I own a 91 toyota pickup and ive been doing research on engine swaps. I currently have a 22re with low miles and I plan on driving it for at least another 20k however the 22re feels sooo slow and this is where my question begins, I want to know what engine I should put in the ole yota. I looked on youtube and saw a old 5.0 mustang motor put into a 91 pickup and it looked pretty fast however I didnt find many details on how hard it was to put the motor in. Now im only 16 with limited mechanical knowledge (allways learning more and more) however my dad and his best friends are all very good mechanics and will gladly assist me when working on my truck, one of my dads friends recommended putting in a Volkswagen TDI diesel motor in it but i feel it would be tremendously slow(probably get great mileage tho lol) . So to close this all up, any motor swap recommendations? Dont need anything to fast I just want enough power to spin the tires with ease and be competitive with my buddies when we drag race. thanks for your time
