89 4runner from 3.0 to 2.7 can it be done

hi folks, i just want to thank you all for help in advance.

i have a 89 4runner, my 3.0 v6 has a burnt exaust valve, and has way to many miles to even think about doing a head job. i recently found a 2.7L with the transfer case and all for a very good price.
has any one out there done this swap . and if so could you give me a little insight on modifications made and so forth.

easiest thing to do is swap in a 3.4 v6.

Yeah it would be way easier to swap in a 3.4. The mounts are already there.

wouldnt the 2.7L moter be a hell of alot better gas milage

what would the gas mileage be on the 3.4L, i know that swap is easier ,but i feel like the 2.7L may be more worth while. has anybody done this swap.

you get more power from the 3.4. 190hp 220ft/lb vs 150hp 177ft/lb. the extra power gain wont hurt your 4runner. either way its an upgrade from the 3.slow

The 3rz is a pretty popular swap. Havent heard of anyone on yotatech doing it though.

Here are some good links from other boards
