88 Toyota 1UZ Swap plus MORE!!!!

1UZ-FE SWAP IS DONE!

Well I have been doing my build on a local forum. This will be my second post on yotatech. Right now I am living in Hampton Virginia and in the USAF.

Been messing with toyotas for about 2 years now. I have owned a 1982 which sent to the scrap yard for major rust issues. So I bought this 1988 from a buddy of mine about a year ago rebuilt the 22re that was in it. Did a SAS swap 5.29 gears front and rear and have an All-pro extreme Lift kit. Which is getting installed after the 1UZ swap. I also own a 1990 toyota supra and a 2001 BMW 325I.

Now onto the good stuff. I bought a 1992 Lexus SC400 with complete engine and drivetrain for $850. Pulled the engine and now in process of freshing up the engine. Waterpump, plugs, wires, seals and etc. I managed to sell my 22re and w56 for 800 bucks so I made back the money for what I paid for the car. Since I am posting this from work I don't have access to my pictures atm. So i'll post a few that I have.

I'll be using the A30-41LE 4 Speed auto-tranny with a VF2A Transfer case for now. I had to swap out output shafts from the 30-40F to the 30-41 to install the transfer case. Eventually I will install an inchworm adapter and run a 23-spline grear driven transfer case using the marlin gear kit with 4.7 gears.

I have sourced the 92 SC400 FSM from Toyota TIS.

The first picture I have is when I first bought it. The bald 35" TSLs are gone and its sitting on a SFA now with some cheap 33's atm.

Then the next few pictures are the motor mounts I designed in MS paint for the 1UZ swap.

Here is the build on a local forum http://www.dso4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5446

Hockey pucks are solid rubber not the cheap ones that are hollow in the middle. They make GREAT vibration isolators. Timeline is to have truckin running and driving mid june 09

hey if it works, it works. BUT... what about torsional strength? Personally, I'd run an actual motor mount. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

A friend of mine uses them in his volvo with a 1JZ and hasn't had any issues yet.

The transmission is a A30-41LE out of a 1992 Lexus SC400 and the transfer case is out of a 1986 Toyota Pickup.

Cool

Not much for tonight just the engine is almost back together and just waiting on a few more parts to come in the mail to finish putting the engine back together. So in the next few weeks the engine will be going in the truck. So who all thinks I can't get this completed within a month? =)

If you get it done in a month... I'll be envious as 1 can possibly be. I've been working on my 3RZ swap going on 1.5 yr. I'm starting to get REALLY frustrated. Everytime I think I have it figured out as to why it's not running, that turns out to NOT be it.

Engine is all back together. Going to do some wiring tonight. I'm just waiting to get paid to buy the rest of the crap I need. I chill in the yotatech flashchat during the day while at work so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

subscribed.......

Normally I hate it when people post to say they subscribed but by posting I'm automatically subscribed so I'm just being lazy here.

Looks like a fun swap. Really interested in your MPGs. Cant be worse than a 3.slow, I would like to do this to mine.

Engine is in. You will have to remove the ebrake. Stock cross member will work.

SC400 is rear sump I see.Looks good .
Any pictures of the output shaft exchange , that would be great.
With the solid axle you dont have to worry about the upper a arm and torsion bar getting in the way of the exhaust looks like.
Great Job Man!!

Flip the Bils over with the shock boot down, then throw the boot away.

Nice engine swap.

My SC400 sump ended up right on top of the IFS front diff. I need to start looking for a front sump, but I haven't yet. Not sure how much up-travel you have in the front end, but I'm sure you know to keep an eye on it.

Nice work - keep it up

N8 the ls 400 has the front sump ,

I think you can do it in 1 month if you are using the auto from the lexus along with the wiring and ecm all from the same lexus .

gennro do you have pics of the rear sensor , did you drill for it on the tailhousing , or what did you end up doing.
