88 4wd to 92 2wd swap

Howdy, I had a 92 2wd that the motor went kaput and found one from an 88 4wd. everything looks the same except the oil filter location and pan. The 2wd has some sort of aparatus where the oil filter is on the 4wd model and the 4wd model has a cap over where the filter is on the 2wd model. Oh and the oil pans are different.

Here's my questions Is this a pretty straight forward swapping of the oil pans and oil pump pick up tubes or is it more complicated?

Does it matter if I move the filter locations?

Thanks

George

Cool site. Thanks to the folks who posted the manuals on line that was a big help. Turns out what I was looking at on the 92 3.0 was an oil cooler. The 88 doesn't have one, so looks like I should be able to move filter locations without any issues and press on

Turns out that there is more difference than you might think. between 88 and 92 and 2 to 4wd the harnesses are different. So I swapped in the 92 harness to find out the injector connectors are different. The oi1 pan is different. The motor mounts aren't the same. The p1ug for the tps different, the gas 1ine connection is different and the exhaust isn't 1ining up and 1ooks 1ike I'11 be cutting it up tomorrow. SO it has been a fun coup1e of days changing and modding
