3VZE OR 5VZE for DD "NO" Wheeling
I’ve been doing tons of research here and almost every 3.0L 3VZE discussing includes valves bent, motor is shot, pistons is knocking, I over heated, head gasket is blown, etc… Is the 3.0 3VZE really that bad? I’ve made up my mind with a 98 Taco 3.4L swap. But since my wife and I are in process of buying a home, I was thinking about a Remanufacture Engine and call it a day. The 98 3.4 has about a 150K miles. I don’t guys on what I should do I feel more a Remanufacture Engine but its gonna be a 3.0 and I also feel a lot of 3.4 going around but shaky on the miles and swap.

My 3.0 is very reliable with 235,858 miles and still going , had the headgasket redone with like 30,000 and it has been running fine since.
Is it gutless well ya doe's it get shi*y gas mileage ya doe's it run like a TIMEX well matter of fact yes it doe's would I get one for street use only OH YA great dependability nuff said You might want to check into a set of WEISEY cams and a set of headers if you want more power and torque which in turn means better gas mileage.

3.0's are not bad motors... just not the best Toyota motor.
If you have the time and are willing to do a majority of the 3.4 swap yourself, than that is the only way to go. My guess is that it would take about 3 or so hours less actual labor time to drop in a "new" 3.0 as opposed to swapping in a 3.4. Costs for the 3.4 swap will vary however.
