Question 2L or 2LT, orr?..

Hi, im pretty new here, not really just to this site but forums in general.
anyways so heres a bit about my situation..

Im in Australia till about early August 2016. im a Canadian resident from B.C.
a little over a year ago being out here in Australia on a holiday working visa i had picked up a 4runner with a 2L with a turbo. it was blowing smoke alot and was pretty slow. Being from Canada and as there isnt too many of these smaller diesels i had to have one lol. anyways i have enjoyed it but i did put the 4runner on its side and it ran for a few seconds as such wich may have contributed to a wristpin failing later, i replaced it with another 2L which threw a rod on me 1.5 months later. there was no RPM connection for the pump so i had to listen to it and i did listen to music here and there and maybe the rpm went too high and it spun a bearing, started to knock, and then i tried making it back to buddies shop and, didnt make it lol. the 2 engines were identical, the replaced engine was apparently 40k, the other 2 or 332xxxkm. what was one to do??? well i rebuilt the original 2L with 3 pistons from the younger engine and the cam and rockers. new bearings, rings and all. its running great right now and seems pretty strong.

ive really not had any problems with it. pretty happy with it. very simple engine.
anyways, so now i want to bring one home.
ive picked up a 2LT from an 89 dual cab hilux. the head is clean of cracks as far as i can see except a small crack on each side of all 4 precombustions chambers. i am planning on rebuilding this one to send home.

ive been doing alot of reading about 2L's and LT's and obviously 3L's.
what im wondering is, which one is Really worth it????????
the L with cam and rocker arms and a high compression ratio?, or the OHC bucket and shims engine with the lower CR??
i plan on putting this into a 79 to 82 toyota 4x4 back home in BC Canada for some good fun wheeling.

P.S. im also quite interested in running biofuel as well.

Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks!
