I have never owned a 4wd before and a couple days ago a bought a 93 4runner that was converted from an automatic to manual transmission. While driving the clutch started to go out and was hard to shift so I was power shifting but that was not going well either. I had a friend shift while I was driving as it was just easier. During he pulled the shift knob off and grabbed the 4wd shifter and pulled it downwards. I was completely stopped at the time because it wasn't going into first so he was trying put it into second gear. I don't know if he engaged the 4wd or not but now the 4wd shifter will not move whatsoever and the whole vehicle starts shaking if I drive over 50mph. The whole situation makes me feel completely incompetent. As I have no idea what to do. Also The front hubs are unlocked... I just need to know if something is ruined or what and if it is in 4hi or not and how to disengage.

When my passenger pulled back on the 4wd shifter he did indeed put it into 4hi but also pulled the shifter off its proper positioning. Removed the 4 bolts that help the shifter to transmission and made sure everything got put back in right and how is supposed to go and bolted back up. 4wd shifter no longer stuck. Rig still shakes like made when I hit 55mph then stops at 70mph. Was told one of the tires might have a broken belt and at 70mob there is enough centrifical force to pull it tight or whatever and that stops the shaking. Guess I'm gonna need some new tires soon.
