toyota t100 sas
after doing alottt of research and thinking i decided to scrap the 7.5 ifs and do a dana 44 sas. To fix the 7.5 diff how i wanna fix it is around 1200 and thats about the same price to do a sas. My father knows a retired guy in vermont thats in the military who still gets all the 1/2ton blazers 1 ton chevy diesil trucks etc. for dirt cheap...along with all of this he has piles of axles from all these trucks that have never been installed on the trucks soo while i was up there i was looking around and picked out a dana 44 1/2 ton chevy with manual locking, steering tie rod and drag link knuckles rotors calipers, and a locker for only $250
i then called up inchworm gear and spoke with john (real nice guy) and talked with him about what needs to be done and what im really looking to do so i choose to do 3" toyota springs (cause i only plan on 33" tires). what i wanted to know is will toyota front leaf springs or toyota leaf springs in general, would they mount on the chevy dana 44 perch mounts? Im asking this question because the t100 frame rails are 34inch end to end and my research leaves me to believe the perch mounts are the same width so id would line rite up

Search Pirate and look for Eric B. He did his when I did mine and I read everything he wrote like a bible
The perches are pretty close but they didn't line up exactley, as for the rear I went with 63 inch stock chevy's and a shackle, your also going to want to go to 35's, I said the same about 33's but 35's look so much better on T100's.
I lost my hard drive a few years ago with all my T100 pics but I had a green one I built pretty good back in the day. Loved it.
Just in case you didn't know, don't put that er in 4wd until you have front and rear gears matching...
Any other questions let me know, and the Yota springs will be fine, but search on what's good now, I went with custom junkyard set I put together for hte front of mine when I did it, seems like it was high 40 inchers as the base and pick'd and pulled to piece them together, ended up with great shackle angle and about 4 inches of lift, I didn't have a body lift though.

ok 35s it is lol. my gear in the rear is 470... id like to keep it but unfortunatly that is deff not a common gear at all so ill do 488's...(i just rebuilt my rear end to god damn it!)
sooo would i have to re-adjust the position on those perches or will i get away with the stock position????

If I'm remembering correctly the front end of the T narrows where the hangers are, like it's really narrow so i had to move the spring perches inward, wasn't hard at all, just cut the old one's off and remount, or get a new perch.
You can definately try it though, I did my SAS on the T back in 2003 so I don't remember really well as I've did a few other swaps since then and they kinda mix in my mind.

well i measured the frame where should just about mount and it widens my 37 to 38 inches compared to the 34inches in the front so i gots a plan! instead of going through the frame and having spacers and what not like this http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...=153057&page=2 (scroll down and you will see that picture) i will buy shackle mounts weld a plate and gussets to where i need it on the frame and just weld the shock mount to the plate http://www.inchwormgear.com/store/pr...roducts_id=927

That wasn't close enough for my tastes. An acquaintance of mine up the road at the time reported not liking it unless there was a lot of slip in traction at the wheels.
I'm pushing 37x13.5s with 4.88s, stock 5vz, and I've been plenty happy with it through 35s, 6s & now 7s.
Chevy perches are at 33.5" iirc. My spring hangers are stitched to the bottom of the frame and gusseted, kinda along the lines of the inchworm hangers, and it's worked well for years. I ran blocks in the rear at first but had a pair of Alcans made finally a couple years after the front was done, and that's been a great improvement also.
Cut anything off yet?

well i was gonna plan on doing gearing untill i came across this awesome deal for procomp 35s with rims for only 600 dolla! so the tires set me back a lil bit from doing the sas until i save more money.... the toyota lift leaf springs from trail gear were able to mount on the chevy perch mount with no problem! leafs are 4" lift. and the shocks are 14" bilstiens with the piggyback resevior with the shock hoops i got from trail gear....

finally its done! btw i got everything suspension related from inchworm gear 4" toyota leaf springs on stock chevy perch mounts (bolted rite up no problem), 14" shock hoops, 14inch travel bilstein shocks with the biggy-back resevior (really squishy ride =]) and the brakes are a million times better then stock ifs....i got my dana 44 steering arm from shakerbuilt.com and my drag link, tie rod ends, and pitman arm from front range offroad
cleaning up the frame
i had to modify the front spring hanger inchworm gear gave me (i made it 3inches longer to my specs.)
all tacked up
my shock hoops all in
since the frame on the t100s widen where the shackles mount, i welded some plated for more surface and used the shackle mounts from inchworm gear
flexing
now i need the rear lifted
wasnt even flexed out all the way still had a couple 3 to4 inches to go on the travel
cleaning up the frame

well i recently bought the trail gear rear lift so hopefully ill have it in this weekend but i still need a front driveshaft made up and need to get shims to correct my pinion angle and im good to go! slow working process is really annoying i just want this thing to be done so i can have some fun lol
