tearing apart a cv joint

has anyone tore apart a cv joint before. im wondering if i can take the u-joint out of the top flange (circled in red) and will the flange come rite off that ball it rides/rotates on or it connected inside some how i cant see? sorry if thats to confusing? will the u-joint and flange come out just like the thumbnail pic. thanks
