That's so you can get a weld on it and so it is centered properly.

alright i called trail gear and they said you measure so the very bottom of the shackle tube sticks out 1/4 inch on the outside of the frame. they should clear that up in their instructions. cause the frame tapers in so the front measurement would be different from the rear of the shackle tube.
thanks for the help. i hope this info helps someone else too

Oh, missed the SAS part.
![]() Yea, it has to stick out so you have something to weld to, and a flush surface for the shackle to mount to.

i knew why it had to stick out and it had to be 1/4 inch out but i didnt know where to measure the 1/4 inch from cause the frame tapers in on both sides.
