My SAS Project

What I have for the front:
Rancho RS 44044 leaf springs
Custom drop box and other spring mounts
Marlin Crawler 6in shackles
14" Bilsteins
Ford F250 shock towers
Trail-Gear 6 shooter knuckles
Trail-Gear Hi-steer
1in wheel spacers
Custom brake lines
All-pro U-bolt flips
Custom driveshaft
529s

What I have for the rear:
14" bilsteins
63" chevys
I think I'm gunna buy the chevy conversion kit on Sky manufacturing online. Or where else could I get the conversion kit that may be better?

I've seen people make there own chevy conversion kit. If you can do a SAS you should be able to make your own it'll save some money to boot!

Go with a shorter shackle up front. You're pinion/driveshaft angle will thank you. Even a 5" shackle will help a lot. Especially with a V6.

So I've been working on my sas. I'm going to try to get some pics up soon. I've been having trouble with the welding. I got a 230v mig welder and I'm using Flux core wire with no gas. I know I can get good penetration with it but the welds look really bad. Does anyone have any tips.

It would be awesome if someone could post up some pics of their welds with flux core and no gas! I can't afford anything right now. I'm trying to sell my acetylene torch to get money just for bills. lol. So I would buy gas if I could but that is even out of the question right now because so much crap has been going on in my life. But anyway this isn't Dr. Phil. Pics would be great

Thanks

Bump. I still can't make the best looking welds. But I was welding some pieces that were off my truck and I was welding flat and the welds look good. I guess I just can't get the sideways and upside down welds to look good. I finished welding my drop box and I had to weld over a weld that I grinded down because it was done badly by a freind.. I grinded the weld down on the drop box to make it look better... It looks ok because I grinded it super flat but it is really wide because I did 2 passes on it and I was going a little too slow. (I should probably get a pic up to show you guys)... but do you think its ok if it is a wide weld? It was two passes but I grinded it down so it looks like one huge one now.

you cant really tell from the pics how much penetration you are getting with your welding... but i will tell you one thing for sure! I wouldnt trust your shackle hanger for anything!! That is one of the most critical welds on the front end of your truck! the tube should be welded in the frame of the truck. Your design is very unsafe, and besides that im sure it creates one hell of a driveline angle. you should REALLY look into that...
