44044's in front? Hybrid pack? On an '86 4Runner SAS

I'm planning the SAS on my '86 4Runner. I want 3 to 4 inches of lift over stock with good flex.

I got a deal on a '85 Toy front axle and it came with some like-new Rancho 44044s. I'm deciding if I will use them for the front suspension or not...

I've seen people mention "44044 hybrid" spring set up, which sounds like it is a Toyota main spring (front or rear) and some or all of the 44044 pack. Considering the difference in width of the springs, I'm wondering how this works exactly. It seems like they could be sloppy in the axle ubolts and the anti-fanout/anti-wrap clamp at the end of the second/third spring.

So, here are my questions I have now:
* To anyone who used 44044s on the front of a SAS:
- How did you hang them?
Did you make your own spring hanger?
I've read that some people use Toy spring hangers and grind the springs narrower to fit.
* How is a 44044 hybrid pack made with narrower leaves?
* Can I take some leaves out of the 44044 pack to lower the lift down to 3-4 inches (from 5" to 5.5") and expect to flex them with out damaging the leaves?

Thanks in advance.

Generz

i would put the ranchos in front and find a set of 4leaf chevy 63 for the rear and that should give a 4inch overall lift

I haven't heard about using a toyota leaf in the 44044 hybrid. I have a 44044 Hybrid that uses the main and second leaf of the 44044 because it is military wrapped and the lower 4 are stock waggy springs. I have an extra leaf on the driver side to level it out more.
