When do I get to call myself a truck guy?

So I picked her up a couple days ago. Drove her home and took pictures. Here's how she came home, no changes yet!

http://www.altonymous.com/default/th...not-so-new-toy

I've always been in to fast bikes and fast cars. But as I get older, and have more kids, I want to do something with the boys, that doesn't involve taking them to insanely high speeds.

I figured off-roading would be fun, I just have to make sure I don't do anything insane with them in the vehicle. So far now I plan to get this truck running smooth and go from there.

What do yall think?

As far as I can tell the frame looks good. I'm no expert but it doesn't seem to have a lot of rust spots.. and most appear to be cosmetic.

Cool, how many miles? How does she run?
My 92 pickup has the 22re and I love it. Sounds like a diesel, has the power of a small gulf cart, and the fuel mileage of a 425. I drive her every day and wish I would have gotten her years ago.

Truck looks good. Maybe paint that topper black.
You might want to check for the source of that oil spot on the skid plate.

250k she runs okay. I'm not sure why yet but her top speed leaves a bit to be desired. She's only running 31" tires but my speedo was maxxing out at 65mph, which I'm guesstimating at ~70mph.

I plan to paint the whole truck one day. Also redo the interior. Yeah the oil spot on the skid plate does bother me and I planned to try and figure it out when I started the tune. Right now I have a busted up right arm, so I can't do much other than research, research, research!

I like the quart of oil by the air cleaner. I have had many cars like that!!! Ahhhh the memories I can still smell the burning of oil if I think hard enough. O wait that was the other day when I moved the 4runner.

Well you can give her a good dose of SeaFoam or two. That may help out a bit then get the plugs, cap, rotor, and such when you are able.

Ya...I suppose so. When I did mine (the truck, 4runner and the lil lady's crown vic) I started it and took it for a drive to get up to temp. Then pulled off the booster vacuum as they did and dumped about 2/3 to 3/4 of it in. Now you should dump it fast enough to stop the vac leak but not too fast. So have said that if you go too fast you can hydrolock it. Not sure though.

Then have someone shut it off and you stop pouring when it quits. This will let it sit on the piston heads and clean them off. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. Dump the remainder in the gas tank.

When you go to start it, she'll smoke like crazy, mine was terrible make sure you tell your neighbors so they know what's going on.

I have not used any in the oil as they showed...yet. They say, folks here, that it does help out there as well. But to change your oil in about 100-150 miles.
