What do y'all think? (pics)

My father originally bought this for his own use. I have recently bought it from him, and some things have to be fixed...

So far it was the stereo
Running boards

and now i moved the fog lights and took that god awful piece of plastic off

Before:

and after:

lights on:

off the stands:

and the next thing I'm gonna play with is fixing my front speakers... one of them is blown (courtesy of my older brother when he drove this... 3 years ago?).

Thanks for the speakers Tofer!

Its a busy birthday...

Thanks! they always got in the way when i did stuff like go hunting...

I'm gonna mount some rally lights in the same general area as soon as I'm not poor and can afford them.

What's the best option for those lights? company/size etc?

soon as you're not poor? good luck with that. i've been waiting 40 yrs for that moment, still no closer. (ha)

the fogs you have are nice Bosch units that take an H3 bulb. always try to replace with osram, or philips, or sylvania. decent bulb makers. cheaper bulbs fail faster.

if you want new lamp housings, the most reputable are Hella and Cibie, but you will pay an arm/leg for them. you may want to get a cheap pair at your local parts store and see how long they'll last. they could last a few years. most fogs all take 55w bulbs, so the draw is the same on the system regardless of your brand, unless you go up in wattage to a 100w bulb. of course you risk melting the housing. not all are rated for that wattage. (why the hellas are so $$)

any fogs should be wired through a relay. your dad's bosch's probably are, but if not, should you upgrade, use a relay kit. this makes your switch power the relay, which powers the lights, rather than the switch powering the lights directly. otherwise, melty switch.

remember to go to a pitch dark road to aim the lights and your headlights too. no point in wasting any candles cuz of poor aim. half the time a re-aim adds more light than a new pair of lamps.

good luck with your truck!

0h p.s. remember, lights mounted in front of the bumper get crushed FIRST.

i know i've seen replacement valences with cut-outs for lights.

the lights look better in the AFTER pics than the BEFORE one, that's for sure.

my advice would be to get a push-bar, bumper guard, whatever and mount lights on that and look for that valence thing.

it looks OK without the valence, but looked more snug with the valence on.

PS....welcome to YOTATECH and nice ride.

I debated whether or not to put the valance back on, as all i would need to do is drill 2 holes and cut a notch to hide the wires better. But I kind of like it without the valance. It gives it a different look that I like. I might fab a piece to put down there to tidy it up a bit but besides that...

Looked way better with the lower vallance on. Looks likes it's missing something now. Nice 4 runner though!

I would have left the valence on and mounted the lights to the top of the bumper.

I thought "y'all" was removed from the English language when Bush was evicted from the Whitehouse.

nice fogs- they really reduce eye-fatigue on long night drives and help spot animals in the ditch.

Good luck with the ride man!!!

As for the debate about the valance...I have mine off on the truck...it was beat up a bit. I'm going to cut the sides out so the tires are exposed but it will leave the rad covered.

My family is from the midwest Matt ;-)

With the extra sheet metal in the garage I'll just use the break to make a bit smoother looking piece to hide most of the frame and all.

That would really clean it up!

Is that an auto or 5spd? Looks like you have 31's on it as well.
