Sounds like you've got a good project there. I'm new myself but welcome.
My 4Runner is my first Toyota and I am very impressed. My last 4x4 was a 2000 Nissan Frontier crew cab that was nice as well. I tried a Chevy Silverado HD2500 for a while but they do not make a good daily driver-the 8mpg was one problem but the rock hard ride was the biggest-unless the bed was full-then it rode great but went through gas even quicker. Are you going to build up a serious off-roader or something a little more tame?

hey there beachrunner- thanks for the welcome!
always liked the look of the newr nissans- never had a ride in one tho. my retired aunt just got an 07 chevy 4wd- took camper to KY with us last week-boy was she whinin 'bout gas use! no plans for rock crawlin in this Toy (unless I get myself in a mess!)- i'm actually going to replace the tires on it now with some smaller- goin for better mileage & less weight- helps that smaller tires cost a lot less. i'm sellin a gas sipper daily driver to fund the motor swap- this will be mama's grocery getter-on top of being our 4wd vacation ride. every fall we spend 2-3 weeks with our dirtbikes in Utah- the Henry Mountain/Caineville area- never had an fun in the vehicles, just the bikes- big hopes of doing some light ohv'n in that area come May, when we plan to try to take the big vacation this year...... i named her- like all my toys n cars- her name is Sally VI (the sixth) got a lot accomplished friday night, postin details in my build thread to come. ~ it was nice here yesterday and we spent the day totin wood and clearin the trail for today's ride- closet 1wd four strokin fanatic-yes I do rock crawl the xr250r- haha- needless to say- fun has gotten in the way of dropping the motor in this weekend. whahhhhh thanks for havin me and thanks to robert k for the quick response to my email on the bypass filter questions... |

The Honda sounds like a lot of fun- my sis, bro-in-law and their 3 kids all ride MX.
I'm sure their are a lot of good choices but the Bridgestone Dueler HT's on my 4R are great on the hwy and are too pricey. I'm wishing they would wear quicker so I can justify putting some more meat on the wheels but I they got a great thread life-oh well I guess I'll have to sneak some tires on some other way! How big is your garden? I've got a little spot in that back yard that I'm going to expand this year- so far I'm stacking the leaves on it and working them in a bit to build up the soil for this spring-the tomatoes went crazy last year but my cuc's, zucini and squash fizzled.

shoot- i was over-run with zucs/squash! any melon really-had pumkins, watermelons, cucumbers and cantelope- corn does well
tomatos don't like the soil here and only grow good on the sunny side of the shop in buckets of bought soil. same thing with the peppers- i guess the garden is about .5 acres with and quarter acre greens patch on the side. spent all day yesterday in the woods on the xr's. still no runnin tacoma! bored?-here's a couple short amature vids of my amature skills-haha last year-with me leadin the warm up lap-i'm pretty slow in the woods! shots from my october vacation in utah (swingarm area ~ xr250r) (goin up) (comin down) |

Welcome to YT, always room for the Volunteer state!
That picture of your rig with the motor out on the ground sent chills down my back....I guess most of the people around here, including myself, get excited at such a sight.
