hello guys and gals just introducing myself, my names craig and im in the uk, im in the british army and have served 12 years so far. i am also the proud owner of a toyota hilux surf ln130 2.4td, she has been chipped to 150bhp lifted 2 inch and has 32,11.50r15 bfg atko tyres on and she has diff breathers fitted, she aslo has a rather large sound system and has cb fitted, there are a few more to go on like winch bumper and winch, bigger bodylift and a few other things like snorkel etc, that is being handmade rather then buying one. im also a member of a 4x4 response group over here in the uk, we go and help the emergancy services when they need a 4x4, and im also a member of the hilux surf forum (www.hiluxsurf.co.uk) well thats me, feel free to get in touch and have a chat, hope to hear from you all soon, craig.
ps tried adding pics but having trouble resizing them down to the required size when ive figured it out ill post some pics.

Hello Craig and welcome to yotatech

use photobucket.com, it resizes your images for you. All you have to do is upload pics into photobucket, and then copy the IMG code and then paste it into the message box
hope that helps if you have any questions feel free to ask

hiya mate, ye its diesel but the one to go for is the 3l rather than the 2.4. its averageing around 33 mpg at the min.
the 3l is more tourqueier than the 2.4 and got more bhp in standard guise.

yes mate, you can either send them an ecu or they will do on site takes about an hr to fit and bout hr to set up rollers, for you id get a cheapy one off eblag and post it across get it chipped and sent back then all you would have to do is get it fitted and rolling road tuned to set air fuel etc its a well good mod, not the cheapest but awesome, its a totaly different truck with it in, the 97bhp it had is nothing, you can actualy embaress boy racers at the lights with it.
of you need to know anyhting just ask mate and ill find out for you.

oh wow, i'm averaging 15 mpg out of my 22re. albiet the egr is throwing a code but still, 33 mpg would make up for high diesel prices here.
my 7.3 liter ford superduty made better mpg then my 22re

hiya mate, no its no micky mouse, its a man peeing on a land rover badge, we have a fair bit of rivalery over here with jap and land rover so its dig on them, on the back i have a sticker saying attach your stranded landrover here and an arrow pointing to the shackels, and on the rear window i have a sticker saying if you cant stop quick enough smile as you go underneath.

hiya mate, we have just had a major crisis over here with fuel, it reached £1.40 per litre where i live wich is about $2.80 ish for 1 litre, but the government has just dropped the tax on evry thing here from %17.5 to %15 which isnt to bad, but supermarkets have started a fuel war over here and dropped the price of petrol (gas) to £0.88 per ltr and diesel is now down to £0.99 which is $1.60 and $1.89 ish .

i wouldnt be to jealous mate you got better weather than us
diesel is uber expensive but its coming down rapidly here at the min which isnt bad its when the government decide to tax our ass with something new. over here motorists get hammered big time and they have put road tax up from £180 per year to £400 per year for any 4x4 made after 2001 i think it is, not sure if you guys have to tax your trucks and cars over here but here you need road tax, insurance, and m.o.t.
m.o.t is a yearly vehicle safety check which cost £50 for the test and then you got parts and labour if it fails on anything

some states here have inspections similar to your m.o.t

florida doesnt, but my home state of new hampshire does.

they always find some way to tax your hard earned dollars dont they?

i think all states here require insurance now, and as for road tax i think thats included in our gas prices.
i saw something about it when i was researching running diesel on used veggie oil, and how its not technically legal because they hasnt found a way to tax it yet.

we had a similar problem here with veg oil but when the fuel prices went up so did veg oil it was nearly as expensive as diesel at one point, i found my surf doesnt like veg oil at all, and neither do the fuel filters, the previous owner of the lux ran it on veg and its taken ages to get all the chip fat out of the tank and lines etc, and i had to refurb the injectors as they where blocked and clogged up with it
