newbie from Alaska
hey everyone my name is ryan and i am 23, recently moved to anchorage from Eastern Washington after graduating from WSU and taking a job as a mechnical engineer. sold almost everything i own except my 68 elcamino and drove up the alcan. i am not new to wheeling and but am starting off fresh up here in alaska with my little 84 toy ex cab i bought for 800 bucks!!
here is how she sits now: ![]() stock with aussie locker and some 31x11.5 ltb's (these tires kick arse!!) lots planned for it but am waiting to pay off some bills before i can expend too much in the truck. I am planning 4.3 swap, 4.7 crawlers(maybe), custom 4" lift, flat bed, 38.5 tsl's and much more so once i get a good place to work it should be on!! It is pretty much all mud up here so i wheel with a bunch of guys with fullsize one tons and ag tires, but i think 38.5's should feel like ags on the yota! anyone in alaska on here? wheeling up here is awesome i have wheeled a bunch of trails and even went to healy/fairbanks and wheeled the stampede trail last weekend all the waqy to the bus! well i guess that is enough rambling for me ![]()

Welcome! Always nice to see new people in Alaska. I'm down here in Juneau, so not much offroading for me, but I can dream
You've got a good looking rig there, I like the green. Look forward to hearing more about your future trips. Erich

funny you mention the paint.....the guy i bought it from painted it....with house paint!! in the rain!! it only looks good when it is covered in mud, but it is strait and rust free so? i am going to go military green when i get up the time to sand it down and mask it off.
anytime you are up in the anch and want to wheel we got a good club up here (Denali Offroad) and you are more than welcome even to just ride along

thanks man, yeah in august the stampede is not bad they even have a jeep tour that goes most of the way. it has gotten very touristy up there, i did make 100 buck pulling a stock jeep liberty out of the mud so it payed for the day trip up there and back! it was really funny because i pulled him out and then drove right through the same spot in 2wd with him still watching hahaha he was pissed!!! told him he should buy some M/ts and a toyota!
If you ever make it up let me know and we will throw a wheeling trip together. Alaska is not one of those places you can wheel by yourself

welcom to YT and awesome deal on your '84....I was stationed at Ft.Richardson a long time ago. There are some good wheeling trails on Ft. Rich and Elmendorf, it was an open post when I was there, not sure about not post 9/11. Fishing at any hour during the summer is cool. I too had an '84 xtra cab up there. I miss that truck. I wish I could find the picture of it when I broke through the ice of the Eklutna River in December, -20*F and the ice just wasn't quite thick enough..
your planned mods will help with the Muskeg, trucks like to sink in it....i know
