New section
We have needed a section like this for awhile, and new member from across the pond Marky made the suggestion to me this morning.

It's a great idea for the new people. Making the first post is kinda like the first scratch/ding on a new vehicle - you kinda cringe when it first happens and this way they'll feel more welcome.

Hi
Not sure if I was supposed to start a new thread or not so here it goes
![]() I'm Rob and I live in Caledonia, Mississippi, I (and the family) currently have 4 Toyota's, a 1991 Camry, 1991 Toy Ext Cab 4x4 (slightly modified), the newest (to me) 1988 4runner, and my sons 1998 Tacoma 4x4. I have been a Yota addict ever since I bought my 1st truck when I was 17 with an old 77 hilux. My wife and I have 3 daughters of our own and her son, which has picked up the same addiction My daughters currently want to go everywhere in Daddy's truck (I'm so proud /sniff), so I hope I'm teaching them well.

I'm not sure if this is implemented already, but maybe it would be a good idea (if possible) to allow new users to post to this sub-forum without having their post screened? I don't know if this sort of selective screening is possible, but it's a thought.

I always thought it was strange that such a large board didn't have an introductions section (guess I could have pointed that out long ago
). It's a good idea, nice to see it implemented. And welcome to Yotatech marky & Rcross..great bunch of folks around here....you'll soon be addicted...mark my words! ![]() ![]()

It is a good idea to start a new thread in here, this way you have your own.
Can not turn off the screening in here, all new members have to go through the spam filter, no way around it, or it does not work. Yes, we should have had a section like this long ago.

Great site i used to have alook round now & again. Youve certainly got the best terrain to play in. MOHAB is one place i'd like to go as it looks awesome.
As im from the UK my usual place is www.hiluxsurf.co.uk Its a lot tamer than this place. The Hilux Surf is a JAP import, We have 1st,2nd & 3rd gen 4th gens are rare over here. The 4RUNNER was produced for Europe for a short time but did'nt seam to sell, Engines used in the UK range from 2.4 - 3.0 Diesel & V6 Petrol as standard.

New Arrival
Howdy folks,
I'm the proud new(to me) owner of a 95' Runner 4x4, V6 5spd. I'v been longing for a dirt worthy Toyota rig for a long time and now its here! No more trying to access the back country or drive in the snow with a VW Jetta, loaded to gills with mt.bikes, and climbing gear! Before I bought this truck, I was high wheelin on a 80s steel LeMond single speed road bike (bicycle). While no longer true to my purist bicycle roots, I sure am having fun romping in the Florida mud and making a point to have the dirtiest truck in town! Plus it a bit of bike ride to MT... I hail from a tiny North Eastern California town(70miles WNW of Reno NV), have been attending flight school in Vero Beach FL, and am moving to Bozeman MT. in a few weeks to hopefully work as a flight instructor, enjoy the outdoor bounty and low population of Montana. I stumbled upon this site, and am thrilled to have such a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to glean from. Take care all and happy mud doggin' ! |

Yotatech Newbie
Mornin', all (if it is indeed morning when you're reading this).
I got an FJ a few months ago and am really excited to get some modifications done. I've already read about a lot of cool things to do with an FJ here and at a couple other forums. I can't wait to get crackin'! Thanks to the admins for running this site. Big props, gents.

Welcome to the forum TB.
When you get a chance, post up some pictures of your FJ.

Hi all. Great forum, I'm glad to find it. I'm from Pittsburgh PA. I've always been interested in cars and trucks, but never did much of my own work on any of my vehicles. I heard that the older Toyota trucks are easy to work on, so I bought a 1987 4X4 Longbed Toyota Pickup with only ~43,000 original miles on it. What a find!! I was also inspired by the BBC program "Top Gear" when they tried to destroy an 88 Hilux...and failed...twice. Simply Awesome. Many crazy videos on YouTube of people trying to kill these trucks to no avail. It's really extraordinary how much abuse a yota can take. Anyway, I'm very happy with the truck. It's a lot like a military vehicle. Almost no luxuries (at least compared to most newer vehicles), and looks kinda mean
...I love it! This is a new hobby for me, so I'm sure I'll have some stupid newbe questions in the near future...please bare with me Thanks for making an ice breaker thread, Tim |

Hi ya'll! Great forum, I'm glad to find it. I'm from Huntsville, TX. Have a 1988 4wd, 22re that I use for hunting. Also a 2006 RAV 4 and a 2007 Tacoma 4x4. Know very little about mechanics so bear with me
I love the 88 yota 5 spd, but parts changing can get expensive.![]() |
