New Member From Sol. Cal
Hello,
I'm a new Toyota owner and a new member of this forum. Searching and researching has already found me some good answers here. Yes, my new to me 4Runner exhibits the starter clickity-click issue, so I have ordered the copper bits from one of the ebay sellers recommended in a post here. The 4WD 4Runner was a logical decision for me. I had stumps to pull and some trailering chores to get done. Of the many choices, I was very much drawn to the 4Runner. To me, it's obviously the first and best of it's type. The others seem to be imitations of it. I'm new to off-roading, and I suppose will probably be what most members here will consider a pretty light-weight trail rider, at least for now. I feel very fortunate to have found the truck that I did. It's a 2000 4Runner SR5 4WD. I suppose you could say "Y2K, T4R SR5 4WD" but I won't It is in pristine condition with 115k miles. I have had a few nice surprises. I didn't really know about all the options when I bought it. I found that it has the big (265) tire option which, much to my delight, comes with larger brakes. It's totally stock, as far as I know, and appears to be well maintained and well cared for. I bought it about two weeks ago on Saturday. Sunday, I pulled stumps in my yard, and the following Saturday I towed a trailer to pick up a motorcycle that some friends were storing for me, that I had crashed in Arizona. Today I pulled another stump. It's a good feeling to have such a capable vehicle. This represents a few "first's" for me. First Toyota: I'm very impressed. First 4WD: Not sure what to do with it except pull stumps...I'll think of something. First vehicle with a CD player: (yes I know) people look at you funny when the loud music coming from your car is, King Crimson, Herbie Hancock or Beethovan! People ask why I play my music so loud. It's so I don't have to listen to yours, ok? ![]() I plan to explore some of the easier trails in our local mountains soon. Rich

Thanks for the welcome.
Your truck is nice too. Hey, look at it this way, you have a really good opportunity to build it up the way you want is, as you go through your refurbish. On that note, yeah, I looked up a few things that would be nice to have: air lockers, bumpers, can/tire rack, winch. It seems like each and every step in the process is at least a thousand bucks. Yeouch, my wallet shriveled up and went into hiding! Very easy to double or even triple the money you have in one of these trucks.

Welcome to the site!1
you can check out Azusa Canyon for some mud and some light climbing, small river crossings.. etc... fun time and not all huge crazy trucks. a stock 4wd can easily make it down into the action. for trails you can check out Big Bear. they have some pretty mild trails there as well. Those places will Def give you a place to test and use the 4wd for things other than pulling stumps!! Good luck and have fun!

I think I've been by the Azuza place on my way to Burro Canyon. Down on the sandy areas at the north end of the reservoir, right?
I've also been looking at Cleavland Nat. Forest....Ortega highway...Main Divide Road, Santiago Peak. Nice looking area, but some areas are closed because of the fires a while back. You can't drive to Santiago Peak (the antenna farm) right now. You can only go as far as Indian Truck Trail from that direction. Still might be a nice little run, though.

)Go to college if you get the opportunity, tho', it helps a lot. I work in mechanical engineering. Yes, they do look quite vulnerable. I guess they take away a good 4-5 inches of clearance. We're doing double duty as family wagon for now, and need the 'boards to step into and out of the vehicle.
