I'm new here, just got a 1986 4runner, ironically enough from a master technician over at our local ford dealership. I love this thing already, though it's going to need all the love i have. here it is:
First question i have about this, is what manual should i buy. I know there's chiltons and haynes and those but i mentioned it to my mechanic and he said to go with the toyota manual which is quite a bit more expensive. he said those two, chiltons and haynes, are "enough to get your feet wet," but i shuold really call our local toyota dealership and request the manual specifically for the 1986 4runner. There's three though, an engine, transmission, and electrical. I wanted to make sure i get one that describes in adequate detail all the seperate parts, as well as panel and how to remove them (this thing needs some cleaning, there's a smell to it i can't quite pinpoint). If anyone has any experience with these please tell. thanks
Yeah i got the top off already, i wanted to see how hard it was and and someone decided that it was ok to have 80+ degree winters in sacramento.
No pics yet, sorry
