Jeep guy buys a yota!

hey all, new here to the toyota scene. i just bought a stock 81 pickup, 22r, 5spd, 4x4, longbed, and i'm looking at some mild mods for it to make it into a mild trail runner and my DD while my current 4x4 build is under way. it will also be the girls trail ride when i'm done and she gets into wheeling.

my current project is a 79 Jeep cherokee chief, the short list is that i've installed a fuel injected chevy 350, converted it to a manual 4 speed trans and np205 transfercase, running full hi-steer HD44 front and D60 rear with 36" TSL SX's.

for the toyota, i have a set of 33x12.50x15s on aluminum mods ready to bolt on that i used to have on the jeep. from what i've found so far, it looks like they should fit with out too much problem. i am also looking at a 3-4" lift for a little more room for the 33's to move around, but i'm not sure what brand to get. sounds like skyjacker softride is the best system? i'm also considering a set of 34" LTB's when the 33's run out, and i'll proably throw in a locker out back.

anyway, looks like a good board here, hope to learn quite a bit about these little trucks, and maybe see some of you on the trails!

Welcome! glad to see some enthusiasm, im a fan of those old jeeps (the pre-crysler ones) and youll love the yota and when it comes time to give to your girls you might end up rethinking it!
