Howdy

Hiya all!
Decided to join instead of continuing to Lurk in the shadows....
Just got a 2008 FJ (traded in a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab). I can't really explain to everyone how much I'm enjoying it. My wife has stopped talking to me and my dog growls at me now....

Anyways, the info here is amazing. A Big THANK YOU to all of the contributers.
And Corey...Your FJ is .....friggin unbelievable!!!!

Sincerely,
Foulball

Welcome to the forums Foulball.

And thank you for the comps on my rig.
Been a lot of fun and fixing it up.

Post up some pictures when you get a chance.
We dig pictures here.

What are your future plans for your rig?
Trails, rocks, exploring-expedition style?
I am going with the latter.

Thanks for the welcome guys!
ok, on to Corey's questions:
First, I'm getting the ARB winch bar - the FJ's bumper is just too weak and the Southern California traffic is mostly dangerous for bumpers.
Second, Old Man Emu suspension (Heavy in front & medium in back)
then I'll be broke for a long time (not good with golf season here!)
But eventually I'll add some side rails and a full underbody skid plate.
Mostly I'll be doing light to medium trails, finding out of the way fishing holes
and camping spots.

I'll post the pics on the picture page.

See Ya Around

Welcome to the family Foulball...
The wife and dog will come around soon... she'll like how easy it cleans up and that big back door for shopping and whatnot and the hound will appreciate the room and props from all the "poodles".

ok so I don't think this is a hijack since it is about the FJ's. They are new so my thinking is they are like all other new cars, trucks, and suv's, weak (no offense cory). Is the sheet metal thin as he#$ and can they take the beating like an older rig can. I hate how if you lean against new trucks the metal could get a crinkle in it.

LoL, I doubt the wife will come around. She loves her '06 Highlander and thinks up really, really amusing (to her) things that FJ could stand for. I'm sure you can figure out a few of the things she's come up with. As for the dog....he's no longer with the living. He's been sent to puppy lake (I came home on Wed. and found him stiff as a board. The doc said that he'd been poisoned.- not by me!)

As far as the quality of the metal, the factory equipped skid plate wrinkled like tinfoil from my fishing trip (pics of the little trails/roads are on the pics board). The passenger side actually was bent all the way into the cv boot. Reached under and pulled it back with one hand. Weak metal. As far as the body goes, I think it's mostly alright. But I don't really want to find out yet (first payment is due in May).

About your dog that is just wrong man. I hope it was an accident and not someone's idea of a sick joke or something... Don't wait too long to get another dog though it will help with the grief to have a new fuzzy to share the journey with...

Thanks Aviator. He was a cool dog (shepard/golden retriever mix). I'm not sure if he was poisoned on purpose (my yard backs up to 4 other yards so it could've been anyone - literally). But after him, I'm not too sure if I want one for a bit. Especially if my $$ are going to the Cruiser.
