Welcome to YotaTech my man!
Here's som tips to keep the "dumb posts" down to a minimum. 1) Dont be afraid to use the "Search" feature at the top of the screen. 2) If you find that video on YouTube of the Toyota they dropped from a building or was washed out at sea, don't post it... we've all seen it... more than once... 3) Don't post a bulliten about how your front end makes a poping noise when you have youre wheel turned to full lock. Everyone has the issue, it's an IFS thing; use that "Search" button to to find out what it is and how to fix it But once again, welcome, and you've joined the right crowd. Congrats on the new purchase. I promise you, you'll never want another brand of vehicle ever again, lol. Later, Travis ![]()

Hey welcome to the family...
word of warning on the manny tranny... you may need to put a new clutch in it soon after you get it... clutches sort of get warn in a certain way that matches the "style" of the owner and when some one new starts driving it their "style" [ie. shifting point, pedal method, engine braking or not] is different and the clutch fails. I've had 4 man. trans. vehicles and had to put clutches in all of them within about a month of taking possession after that no troubles at all up to 300000+kms. still in all it is the best choice for these trucks and the most fun... edit: I relocated your thread to the intoductions sub-forum when you get your new baby post some pics for us...

And remember that its just the internet, so u can ask whatever u want. Alot of these guys will flame u for dumb questions, but its because they arnt happy with their lives. The only way to learn is to ask questions and get ur hands dirty by working on your truck.

Haha thats how i was, rebuilt an 1979 f250, and was a year deep in a ford apprenticeship before i ever touched a toyota. Some people are just frightened to ask questions, ive only posted one thing on pirate 4x4 and ive had an account over there for a long time, i dont want to get flamed.

alright yall i got the truck today! ive already taken it around town to show it off to my friends, now i gotta show it to you guys.
its a 89 shortbox, 31X10.5 a/t's with spare, pretty much stock except fer tires. hey i do have a question though, it has some major rust problems(typical minnesota truck) and i was wondering the best and possibly cheapest way to stop the rust. this is what im up against, and this is just the bed: http://s534.photobucket.com/albums/ee350/cornstalk89/ EDIT: i still havent figured out how to shrink pics very well, here is the url. I have it on good authority by a guy who works on amusement park rides on the west coast that rust convertor is very effective at stopping it. It's what I'm going to do, and then paint over it.....after I've filled in the holes.
Yours isn't too bad at all...from the pics. I'd clean the surface of dirt and/or grease real well and the RC it and paint bedliner over that.

yea the only spots im really worried about is the bed, around the windshield, and under the cab.
rust converter sounds like a good idea, after i get the rust cleaned im filling the holes and getting it repainted fer cheap, same color though, always liked it. |

Post some pics when your done. That would be nice. And, don't wait too long to take care of it. I did and now I'm for more repairs than would've been otherwise.
