Hello everyone....
WARNING!!!: Long, beer stupored post!!!
Ya know, I just never bothered to introduce myself to here. I just kinda jumped in from day one and it's all been an obsessive downhill, poser, sucker, wannabee hardcore, IFS loser from there. Hahaha! Just kidding! Actually, I've stuck around this long because I like this forum. And, now that I've had a beer after an extremely long day and it's pouring rain and I'm all relaxed and kinda lit, I'd thought I'd type a few run on sentences Allan style and say a little bit about me and what I do......just in case anyone is interested. I've already come to know a number of folks around here and tend to feel a part of the group and even a regular. I mean, look at my post count! Haha! Yeah...I'm on here quite a bit when there's lulls in the activity. Ain't no substitute for stimulating distraction.... What can I say? I like vehicles....for some reason. Moreover, I like Toyotas. I own two 4rnrs (as some know) and have poured my brain into learning about them. What the hell....it's cheaper and much more rewarding than just dropping it off a mechanic. I can truly say "that's my f'n rig". I put my energy, my money, and my time into it. So it isn't my soul's purpose for incarnation, but I'll tell you what....since I've had these Toyota's it's been one the only things that's really stimulated my brain since I've been out of school. Which has been a while....and which was a bunch of crap, but I'm digressing a bit. I like the arts.....visual, auditory, tactile, literary, etc.....and maybe that's why I like mechanics. In a way, it incorporates of that. Utilitarian art, if you will. It requires patience, creativity, intellect, focus, skill, knowledge, practice.....okay, I could go on, but you get the idea. I bought a Toyota after I'd owned a few other vehicles prior, because I'd always been fed the familiar reputation they have and that everyone knows. If I'd had my total way with things, my first choice would've been a rust free, SFA, '85, but you make compromises sometimes. So, I first got an the '86 IFS 22re 4rnr and love it. It's got rust, but so what....I can fix it, eh? ART, ma'in!!! Mostly, I use it for it's utility purposes since my wife and I own and operate and animal sanctuary out of our home on ten acres in the Ozarks of NW Ark. We have a lot of rescue animals, so we have a lot of food and supplies we have to haul whether in the vehicle or with a trailer. The '86 is just so damn reliable compared to the previous vehicles we've had. Not to mention, better on the ol' fuel bill. How 'bout them gas prices, eh? Pffffth!!!! ![]() I also use it for hauling firewood, hay, pulling stuck vehicles (neighbors don't seem to always understand the benefits of having 4wd in the country, ya know. So, why'd you get a stationwagon?...lol!), and just general highway/city commuting. Not to mention, I look so damn studly in my less than average 1st gen'r. It's not everyone that has them....ehem. So, the damn thing is beaten up a bit, seen it's share of breakage from use, but stills gets me around admirably when repaired. Then, someone my wife knows donated her 2nd gen '92 4rnr to our little non-profit giving us a bit more power for our needs (the V6) and little more luxury for our desires. It's just a damn cushy ride. After owning older vehicles for a long while, you tend to appreciate things like that...hehe! Yep....it's been a treat. Uh-oh...my beer is empty. BRB! Okay.....ahhh...nice and cold!! Now, where was I? Oh yeah....Yotatech sucks!!! BAHAHAHA!!! Right.... Animal sanctuary, right? We have around 250+ animals we take care of....just me and my wife. We have our federal 501c-3 registration and GR-31 tax exemption under humane society status. The majority of support for what we do comes from this luxury. Some individuals don't have it (although, they can) and have a much harder time trying to accomplish the same thing. Persons and institutions are able to donate goods, services, and funding and receive and nifty write-off at the end of the tax paying year. Nice, huh?! Good for the animals, good for us, and good for them. They get to feel good because they've done something selfless and the animals and our efforts flourish. It's sorely needed these days. So, this kind of life doesn't afford much in the way the majority of people are able to do. We don't get paid an income for it, we don't get vacations, we don't get "days off", and we don't have employee meetings and benefits. Meetings?! Thank God we don't have those!! haha! I do have a regular PT job, though. I work 26 miles N of Winslow at a Nutrition and Indian Foods store. I've studied health and nutrition (mind, body, and soul) since I was about 18 (36 now), so that pretty much landed me the job. It was perfect for the hours and demands. I can work there on the weekend and still work here at home during the week. OMG!!! That's crazy!!! Working everyday!! HAHAHA! Ahhhh...I jest. It's not that bad. Atleast here I have no boss and no time clock. Bleh!! I hated that crap.....40hrs a week. Wudn't my bag. I grew up in the city/urban area...pops was in the Navy (double bleh!!!...no offense guys), so my only precursor/preparation for the life in the woods/being self sufficient...mostly...was the time I spent in the geeky ol' boy scouts. Buggers to all you BSA bashers. Yeah...some of it was gay, but I learned a lot that's serving more purpose than a lot of the brainwashing/factory/slave labor prep taught in school. I do wish I'd paid a little more attention in math, though. Carpentry! Hehe! Okay...second beer is kicking. I think I'm rambling and such. Where was I, again? Oh.....DeathGoober sucks!!! ![]() Within all of this, and on an even more personal note, I've always been inclined to steer my attention to deeper observation and experience with life around us....inside and out. People bash treehuggers, but I'm one of them. I have hugged trees. Why? They're living and they're amazing. Just like the animals....which is more than I can say for "some" people. The animals just know how to be themselves and don't get involved in the melodrama we do. They're so much more forigiving and accepting of each other and people than people are of themselves and others. That's not a judgement, but it does seem to be the case. I figure we must get something out of it, though, otherwise we wouldn't be doing it. There is such as a thing as perfection even if we don't recognize it or accept it. Probably why I like this forum (upps...back to YT, again...I knew my mind would come back around). Overall, good people, good info, and plenty of good humor and willingness to extend the good within us. Okay....I think I'm done typing. The screen is getting blurry. Where beer? Love.... ![]()

ADD it is. We like short readable posts with big shiny pictures. Especially pictures of women types.

Well, I'm only two months late...don't know how I missed this thread.
Man, you must really be dedicated to animals if you are taking care of 250+ of them! That's cool, I'm glad that there are people like you who are willing to do it. A few years ago my brother and I donated (read: community service) some time to a local woman who takes care of orphaned black bear cubs. It was really cool because she had several of the little furballs there while we were working. She had a big sheppard mix dog that would "mother" the really little ones. Very cool. Keep up the good work dude!

Good read, more power to you for the mostly thankless ( I assume) job that you do. We need more people like you around. If we ever meet up I will buiy you a beer. If you wanted to post pics of women I am sure that the others would appreciate it, I would look too but just to be polite.

Lol.....thanks for reading, guys. I'd only meant to write a tidy, short intro when I started out, but it just kept rollin' off the fingers. So, I just went with the flow and figured some might appreciate knowing more about wee little me, anyway. Maybe I need to get out more....
![]() The thanks comes, Zombie....sometimes subtly and sometimes openly. And, truthfully I think most people I come across are actually glad to hear someone's doing it and know it's a good thing. Everyone benefits.
