YotaTech Summer Campout Greenwater, WA.
Calendar: Public

Please note that the date will change.
I had to input a date in here though for the thread to work with the plug-in that schedules the events.

I was yakking with Chris (member Tofer) and we decided it would be fun to get some members together from the area to camp out up at Greenwater

There is an abundance of free camping up there, and many spots are on the river up there.

Off of Forest Service Road 70 are lots of spots further up about eight miles where you turn onto 70 that are on the river.
Most of the lower spots have been ruined by the logging outfits who have "trenched" the roads leading in making you park along the outer road and carrying all of your gear in.

They did this to prevent the homeless from living up there I would imagine, and to prevent vehicles from leaking oil into the water.

I will be doing some scouting up there sometime in May to look for some good spots.
I know of a few on 70 that will hold around 10 rigs, maybe more

Also there are some good spots further up highway 410 on FS Road 73 on Huckleberry Creek.

I just got off the phone with the White River Ranger station, and there is still three feet or more of snow as soon as you turn off of the highway.

It would not do much good to explore the area right now until we get a meltdown up there.

I would head up early Friday (might take the day off) to setup camp.
I also pretty much would not be doing any 4wheeling, I would mainly be hanging out at the campsite getting some much needed R&R.

But there are tons of roads/trails you can explore up there, and there should be little snow up there come mid June or so.
Some at the higher elevations will exist though on the main FS roads.

I am getting back into camping after taking several years off from it.
Getting stocked up on the right gear to make my trips enjoyable.

For those who want to camp, you might think about some sort of crapper to bring along.
Beats digging a hole up there

Also a good idea to bring your own firewood, although there is a lot of clear cut areas that have leftover wood laying around

If this turns out to be a good event, maybe we could do another one later on in the summer.

73 sounds like the best bet.
When you take the turn off, keep left.
The first 50' or so is asphalt, then it turns to dirt.
To the right the road is blocked by a fallen tree if it is still there, it was over Memorial day when Jim and I took a drive up there.

When you stay left, you will soon come to a bridge to go over the river.
Once past that you will see parking on the right for mountain bikers to take the trail head which is on the left side of that road.
There are also two camping spots further back in from the parking area.
I use to back my trailer right to the river there, but the sights are not very nice anymore.

Continue up the road and stay right past the tree farm.
You will see more parking on the right, this is the parking area for the winter when you innertube, snowshoe, and cross country ski up there.

Continue on and after the gate a road should open up to the right.
Do not continue straight, that takes you up higher.

If you stay to the right, it should be fairly level, and you will see another bridge I think.
Right before that on both sides of the river are spots.
I will try to snag the one on the right side if it is open.

I will be monitoring FRS channel four when up there.
I hope some have these radios.

Before

After, and I still have the dufflebag and a few more items to throw in

Ok. I am going to open a ton of windows up on my laptop, and hope thats enough info (since I have no wireless heh) and I will try to hook up my CB as well.

CB's and FRS will work together right?

One more thing I was going to ask.....do yo have an inverter Corey? If so, we can bring a rice cooker so my girlfriend can make us some authentic Arabic Curry.

FRS and CBs are not compatible.

My rig can put out 400 watts, but the engine must be running.
Only 100 watts when in gear and driving.

I may have my old one from the 4Runner that can put out 400 to 800 watts, but I do not think I have the battery cables for it anymore, just the ones that I hardwired into the thing (slips my mind right now) that the stereo amps plugged into for power.

Ok, so Tofer and I have it figured out. We will meet in Bonney Lake at the old grocery store. I figure we will be up there late, but not TOO late.

Were you coming off of 18?
I remember hearing a horn honk as I was sitting at a light.

I had Sirius channel 20 turned up, so I was not to aware of anyone while sitting there
