I'll have to come check that out. Sounds cool. You guys understand right? I mean my truck's been through heavy brush, in 2 feet of water, and up to both its axles in mud. So it's not that I don't like to wheel my truck but now that its freshly painted I'm really protective over it.

Any desert that I can get to. Like I said I haven't been to the desert with my truck before, I've only driven through so I don't know the different areas.

What about the mighty El Paso's? Less than 5 miles from my house. Or Wagon wheel, or Death valley, or 9 Mile Canyon, or Jawbone Canyon, or Dove Springs, or Red Mountain, or Cuddeback? I can go on for ever, Ridgecrest is a desert wheeling mecca. Matter of fact just saw a Trophy truck in the Blockbuster parking lot, have a race out here this weekend.

I know. It just depends on how far you want to drive, what type of terrain you want and what sites you are interested in.

The Anza Borrego Desert is close and there is plenty of mellow stuff you can find. Its the closest to S.D. and very large with lots of trails and some dunes in Ocotillo Wells. Lots of good camping spots as well.
So Burlyone, did you get the truck fixed or are you just getting the itch to get out there?

I'm just getting the itch to get out there. I just replaced my alternator and flushed my cooling system. I can deal with the power loss until I can get it fixed. It still has enough power to hold its own just not as much as it should have. The leaf springs still work, they're just noisy. Besides I should be able to get a new cat next month if my college allows it so that could possibly fix my power problem.

I don't know if I can make that specific weekend but I'll be out there a bunch before April. I'm getting the itch too. I wish my ring and pinion wasn't broken right now. If I can't get it fixed before too long I'll just go in 2wd.
