SOCAL | Rowher Flats | September 23, 2006

Matt (Acreves) and I are throwing together a little trail run at Rowher Flats.

WHEN
Saturday, September 23, 2006
Driver Meeting: 9am, Begin Trail: 9:30

WHERE
Rowher Flats OHV Area
Meet at Bouquet Canyon entrance
See Map here.

PLANNED RUN
Rowher Trail. The plan is to begin at the Bouquet side ("Start Here" on the map), run up the hardest/steepest part of the trail, run that same part going down, and then go up again and continue to the end at the Sierra Hwy side.

REQUIREMENTS
- At least 32" Tires
- Rear Locker

A spare tire isn't a bad idea either, but everyone should have that anyway. CV axles have been known to break on this trail, but it's unlikely if you're careful.

This trail is pretty much SoCal hilly/chaparral/desert terrain. Lots of little rocks, some loose dirt, some ruts and off-camber situations. The entire run, as planned, should take no longer than 4.5 hours.

Charles, you should come by my place so we could set your auto deflators before the run. Hopefully I can get my skids done by then, not that they are needed on this run, but it would be nice to get them finished up.

Seanz0rz,
If we were going the normal way up the trail a locker would not be required. However we are going to run the trail from the backside side and most likely going to run some of the more difficult side trails. My brother has open diffs on his 4runner and it took him alot longer to get up the trail with a good bit of wheel spining and I had to strap him at the begining. I would recomend finding some guys who want to do the run from the staging area. You could run a stock open diff truck up the trail from this side.

I am interested in going but will probably have to just meet you guys somewhere on the trail. I don't have a rear locker yet. I just got a deal on an Aussie for the front so will be testing those out. If anyone wants to meet at the staging area and do the mild trails let me know. Either way hope you guys have fun!

Steve
