Saturday Dec 10, 2005 Big Bear Run
I'm gonna plan a Big Bear run which is open to anyone interested. This will be similar to the last trip that I went to:
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f15/big-bear-trail-run-aug-7th-8th-36090/
If those that want to camp, you're free to camp in the same spot as it's pretty secluded from the outside world making it a nice place to camp. The details are on that old link.
Lift and good tires and sliders minimum for the harder stuff and then the easy stuff will be whatever you want. I will try to have a trail map for two levels if needed. I'd love to do the hard trail this time so if someone wants to do the easy one feel free to speak up!
--------- DETAILS ------------
Date: December 10, 2005 Saturday
Trails: 2 Different Levels will be offered based on who shows up.
Harder trails will include: Gold Mtn, John Bull, Holcomb Creek
Easier trails will be: TBA
Meeting location: Big Bear Discover Center (Located on North Shore Drive (Highway 38) between Fawnskin and Stanfield Cutoff Phone: 909-866-3437)
Meeting time: 9:00 AM
Departure time: 9:45 AM
CB Channel: 4
Caravan Meeting Location 1:
Ontario Mills Mall
Dave And Busters Parking Lot
Meeting Time: 7:00 AM
Departure Time: 7:45 AM
Caravan Meeting Location 2:
Mc Donald's
100 Redlands Blvd, San Bernardino, CA 92408 (909) 825-8906
Just east of the 215 Freeway. Exit S. Waterman Ave.
Located on South of 10 Freeway.
Meeting Time: 8:00 AM
Departure Time: 8:15 AM
Fuel up in Big Bear so we all have a full tank unless otherwise.
Current Weather conditions:
http://www.snowforecast.com/californiafcst/bbmr.php
Difficult Trails will require: 2-3" Lift, 32" tires, sliders
Easier Trails will be open for all types.
Items to bring: Basic survival gear as safety is first. Make sure you bring enough to cover for your own party. Water and food is a must and please bring extra trash bags. I don't want to see any trash left behind. If you find any trash on the trailhead, please have some common courtesy to pick it up and keep the trails clean. Recover gear is a must. Tools and any spare parts for repairs will be helpful. Camera, video camera for those classic and awesome moments on the trail.
Since the weather will be cold due to the winter season, expect ice/snow conditions on parts of the trail. This will make some of the trail conditions change dramatically so expect to have lots of fun.
PM me if you want to exchange cell numbers.

The trails may be very white that time of year.
I probably won't make that one, but I want to see some pics of your truck in action.
It has come a long way since our first trip to Anza when all you had was a roofrack and CB.

Snow is what I'm sort of expecting but that'll make it that much better as the simple trail will suddenly become difficult!

People won't have a problem finding a camp spot, threre isn't much in the way of campers pretty much after labor day weekend, especially with the cool setting in now.
I'm coming back from Vegas (NFR)that Friday and I'll go up for the day Saturday. If there's snow it will be that much more fun! lol

This will be open for all skill levels. When we assemble on Saturday, we'll do a brief headcount and split the groups accordingly. It would be nice to have alteast 3-4 minimum per group.
If it looks like we'll have a pretty good showing of 2wd and rookie offroaders, I'll go up friday night to do a night survey run for you guys so it won't be too hard nor too boring. This will only apply if you guys are commited though so speak up Since it's been 1 yr since the last time I was there, I really don't remember the condition of each trail so I'd like to do a quick run for the rookie route.
Anyway, this is a family event so please feel free to bring loved ones and even pets

Just made arramgements for a baby sitter so I am doing it as a day trip. My wife Jody is going to co-pilot on a wheelin trip for the first time. I really like the Gold Mountain trail and with some rain and maybe snow it should be alittle more fun. Just need to get meeting place worked out for Sat morning and a time. Ranger station?

As it gets closer, we'll decide on where to meet. It just all depends if anyone will be going up friday night as if someone does, then the camping location will be the gathering point.
I'm sure almost all camping sites will be available. As we get closer, we'll do a final headcount and decide on a good meeting location.

Just checked the weather for Big Bear. A 10 day forcast goes out through 28 Nov and shows a high of 50 for that day. I cannot imagine that the daytime temp will drop enough to have any snow for our trip. Stranger things have happend though. Also not calling for any rain for the next 10 days. Campers beware. Lows are in the mid 20's. So bring someone to keep you warm.
