Saddleback Run: up Main Divide out of Orange County.
You asked for it, now let's do it: Saddleback Mountain, the antennas, Beek's Place and 100 places to play less than an hour from anywhere in Orange County. Here's a simple map:
http://www.dirtopia.com/w/images/c/c...onalForest.gif
Starting at the southern end of North Main Divide Trail (on Ortega), we can haul ourselves into the forest with a good "meet the stragglers" at Beek's Place by 12: PM or so. We can come down on Maple Springs whenever we're done and stop at Cook's for a late lunch.
I think we should meet where Ortega Highway hits the 5 freeway so it's easy to assemble YotaTron. I like Taco Bell, so how about at the Taco Bell just west of the 5 on Ortega? There's a Starbucks a couple hundred yards down the street from that Taco Bell if anyone prefers that...
Most of the trails are... somewhat... outlined on dirtopia.com. http://www.dirtopia.com/wiki/Orange_...%2C_California
There's a good variety, with plenty of safe offshoots to play upon. Of course, the world (and future access) demands that you remember to tread lightly - this is not a slogan, this is the rule.
I will be covering the run for off-road.com as part of a story about the area trails for a "local adventure how-to" kind'a story, and we'll talk about the run on the radio the next Saturday - just look up "Garage Hour" on FaceSlave, and tune in to 1170AM on Saturdays at 6: PM.

Yeah, I know it's Mother's Day weekend. I'm going to call my mother from the top of the ridge, make it special.
"Hey Blondie, you... you got a mother?" Come along, enjoy the Sunday on-trail.

Scuba, long time. We'll chat, Mr. 6000 Posts Guy. Did you ring the bell for this run with any of the Ultimate and TTORA guys? I'm so sick of all the boards...
Okay, I'm going to say meet at the Starbucks right down the street from the Ortega/5 Taco Bell. Everyone likes coffee, and I don't know if I'll be up for a burrito that early (9: AM). Exit Ortega west and take a quick left on Obispo - it'll be on your left in the mall just before Camino Capistrano.

Morning!
For any of the San Diego folks who talked about joining the Saddleback Run on May 9, we'll be headed north at about 8: AM Sunday to meet at Starbucks @ 9: AM. Please email me for my phone number if you want to convoy.
The link for the Starbucks we can meet at is in this thread, and right here:

I'm going to have the CB with me. If y'all are equipped, they're always nice to have along.
STICKing to the plan

Well thanks to the wonderful officers of azusa PD im now out of this trip. Luckily the cop was nice enough not to impound my truck for my expired tags but he told me it would definitely happen if I was pulled over again....

Yeehaw! It was a good run, despite a few of the lumpier trails having been blocked. Next time I'm bringing a picnic and some beer for a proper lunch at Beek's Place north of the antennas.
We totally saved a Jeep's ass, too. I'll have photos soon - the guy was about to fall off a 200ft cliff, but it took a bunch of Toyotas to save him.

Hah! Called me on it.
I was busy with the pulling and crap - so was Scuba - so we didn't snap any of the save, though my brother got pics and video. The videos are already up. Please go to my FaceSlave page to get the links - "Garage Hour". You don't need to be a FaceSlave account holder; I'm just trying to drive up traffic and build the fan base of the show (please be my fan...). We WILL be chatting about this adventure on-air this Saturday, and I'm trying to get the Jeep owner into the studio so I can rub his face in it (as politely as possible - Toyota guys have class).

We're thinking about doing an Jeeper Fail poster to celebrate this fine moment in off-road history.
