Fall Colors Run - 9/18/2004 (Washington)

YotaTech and WATTORA are teaming up to bring you "Fall Colors 2004". This is an easy class run, with most of the day spent on Forest Circus roads. It is suitable to all trailworthy rigs and all drivers.

The focus will be on good company, stellar views and photo ops.

Details and the RSVP form are at http://www.wattora.com/EventDetails.asp?ID=70

I hope to see you on the list

*Please note that Corey our YotaTech administrator and founder will be putting in a special appearance on this run. Let's get a bunch of trucks together and show him a good time

That's the plan. A nice day wandering the woods, with nothing more difficult than a gravel hill climb or a narrow forest circus road That is unless we have another unscheduled "Air Nissan" event.

Cool Count Me In..!

Looking forward to this get-together. In fact, Corey and I made a run to the CB shop today, so I would have that ready for the trip. My '84 doesn't yet have a CB, but that will be fixed very soon. Bought the same radio I have in my '89..a Uniden Pro 520. Great little CB's. Shop was able to tune 15 watts out of it. Along with a 4-ft K40 antenna, I'll be good to go!

Rock on
Jim

This is NOT a difficult run. The day will be spent primarily on Forest Service roads, looking at great views around Mt. Rainier, taking photo ops and getting to know fellow Toyota enthusiasts. Most us won't even use four-wheel drive, unless it decides to dump several inches of snow on us like it did a few years back. If you are looking for hardcore, this run ain't it. But, if a leisurely drive through the backcountry, outstanding views and good company appeal to you, this IS the run for you. There are a couple optional side areas where we will stop to let people play, but the focus of the run will be on scenic vistas and photo ops.

Now, now... just because you attend a light duty run, it does NOT make you a poser. But if you talk about wheeling all the time and never make it out, even for a soft-core run like this, THEN you are a poser in my book

I'm a poser, I'm a poser........

I'll try to make this run, but am not sure when I'm getting back from an un-mentionable run south of Salt Lake City so I'm waiting to sign up.
If it's that easy, can I just leave the trucks at home and drive the GFs Oldsmobile? Seats are a LOT more comfy in that thing.

Okay... back to square one... read the definition of a Class 2.0 trail;

Quote:
2.0 Unimproved or rarely graded dirt road; 4WD and/or extra clearance occasionally needed at times, with no special driving skills required. Passenger cars NOT acceptable, due to insufficient ground clearance. 2WD & 4WD trucks with stock clearance are acceptable. Street tires are acceptable. Day runs are typically 20 miles in length.
Got it? It's a Class 2 for our trucks, a Class 5 for your fathers Oldsmobile! An excerpt from the Class 5 definition;

Quote:
5.0 Trail CANNOT be driven the whole way. Winching is required in at least one point on the trail.
DON'T make me have to tell you again!

(I hope you can make it. You and I on the same trail, at the same time, is one of the final signs of the coming apocalypse.)(WARNING: In case of rapture, my rig will continue to be occupied.)

What if I mounted the winch on the Oldsmobile..........

I'll be there, one way or another.

Do that and I will offer my truck as an anchor point any time you need it during that run.

I came across a orange VW bug last weekend at Evan's Creek and it had a winch attached to the rear of that thing It was gone before I could get my camera.

Well, not for me, but coming off a three day weekend, it might well be a *BURP* for others

Either way, as long as those who might be interested in the run have seen it, I am happy
