Following up to my last report a couple weeks back, I decided to head back down to the southwest part of the state--again. Locals might be getting sick of hearing about me always heading down there ( ), but we are talking about the largest mountain system in America, and yes, that includes Alaska. So, I think this more than validates things! Oh, and since I was going down there to get a preview on the wildflower situation, I will be back one or two more times later this month. Guess what that means?! Anyway, got back late Monday (7/5) evening and looked through all my digital snaps, and low and behold, I think I found a few more decent ones. Thus, another report is born. I don't have the rest of my pics from the weekend put up quite yet, so this will be it for now. Corkscrew Pass, one of the best 360-degree views in the state. And the Red Mountains being the most colorful, perhaps anywhere. Corkscrew Pass Yankee Boy Basin. This, and the next 4 pictures are taken virtually at the same spot on the road. Yankee Boy Basin Yankee Boy Basin Yankee Boy Basin Yankee Boy Basin Kennebec Pass Arrastra Gulch Arrastra Gulch Imogene Pass overlook on 7/5. It was a "bit" chilly at the top (13,114') as the wind was really going at it. I only had on shorts and a t-shirt, so I didn't even bother re-parking the 'Runner to the right side of the frame. I took a number of other pics and vids here, but it was time to get back inside and turn the heater on! Imogene Pass road

Chicken, I guess you must have later found the details on the wheel question that you had here, eh? (MT Classic II, 16x8, 4 9/16" BS). They're nice, but are no longer shiny like they are when new. Tough to keep clean when you go out every other week or so. Cleanser has been my sole cleaning solution to this point (I know the detailing gods are just thrilled to hear that), but it's good enough for me.

Man, I have wheel envy...

And scenery envy... :drool: (STILL WAITING FOR THAT ONE). Living in savannah sucks on the scenery aspect. Though... all have to do is go to the beach and get a whole different sort As usual, great looking pics of a great looking truck. ONE DAY... ONE DAY I will have ClassicIIs and a tire carrier!! Oh well, I can dream still.

And thanks, Blu! Interesting to have a few Californians reply in this thread. Are there no comparable hot spot areas to drive through out there, ones that really take you above it all with great mountain views? Surely there must be. Any in the Sierras at all?

Ran Imogene yesterday to Ouray, and then returned via black bear pass to Telluride.

5 guys in the rig, doing the steps in the rain made for quite an interesting afternoon.

that was my inagural black bear run this season...
