Where to buy toyotas

I've been looking for a truck for awhile but i havent been able to find the right one. i'm looking for a 86-95 truck that has a 22re (plan on rebuilding), manual, extended cab, 4x4, for around 2-2.5k. Engine condition . I've been scouring craigslist in fayetteville and kansas city (currently attending the university of Arkansas and I call kc home) for two months now and I have yet to find a good truck. I know . They all either have basketball sized rust holes on the bed (not uncommon, i know), bad collision damage, v6 or automatic. Its like CL is conspiring against me to get a yota. Craigslist is getting a little old, how have you guys found your trucks/runners? Is my price unreasonable?

I live in California and I had to drive to Idaho to get my 94 ext cab. I beat the brush for over a year and finally found one.
Good luck.

I was in the same spot 3 months ago. I scoured every Craigslist site in my state, and even one site out of state. I found that extra cabs are nearly impossible to find in a 22RE. I propably looked at 300-350 ads, and I was able to find a total of 3 that were both the 22re and an extra cab!

I finally came upon an ad that didn't say anything about the truck, except that it was a toyota extra cab for $2,000 with no pictures. I called right away, and it ended up being 1/2 mile from my house, so I was the first one to look at it. It had a bad head gasket, so I offered her $1,200 for it claiming that it would cost alot to fix. She just wanted out of it, so she took the bait!

There must have been 10 guys show up in the next 15 minutes while we transferred the title. I drove it home, and yanked the motor!!!

Should have the new motor all buttoned up and running tomorrow, I'm into it with a completely rebuilt motor for less than $3k

I looked for a year and a half before I found my Runner. I was willing to go anywhere CA to pick it up, southern Oregon and western Nevada also.

Nothing was right, could not get one exactly like I wanted. Then, I picked up the paper on a Sunday morning, bam, 1/2 mile from my house, the Runner I was looking for.

Keep looking, it will pop up.

I found mine on Craigslist. I had to drive from Tacoma down to Forest Grove, OR (south of Eugene) to go get it. Sketched me out wasting a whole day and have it not work out. But as long as you enough questions and get them to send you enough pics it should be in the shape they say it is. The inch thick folder of receipts didn't hurt either.

Good luck.

Sometimes you just get lucky. I found this one on an add from a local bank website. Went to look at it and once we agreed on a price I ran to the bank for a certified check. In the time that I was gone (about 40 minutes) there had been 3 other guys come look at it and when I got back there was this older guy with a handful of cash trying to buy the truck out from under me. When I walked up he says "The lady decided she wanted 3000$ for it!". I handed the seller the certified check for 2500$ and told him that I'd take 4000$ for it if he was still interested. He left and I brought this home.

This is how it looked when I sold it for 3100$ a few months ago.

Keep looking! They are out there.
