The problem with these old trucks is not what it is worth, it is what somebody that wants it is willing to actually pay. Most people that want a first gen Toyota Pickup either want to beat the crap out of it or simply or want a nice truck but don't have the money to pay for a decent truck. It is a very very small market.

For me, after doing a complete restoration of my '83, I know first hand that there is much value in buying a rust free truck. Knowing what I know now, I would have spent several thousand more on my $2,000 pickup had it not had rust and other issues that I spent countless hours and dollars repairing. I can tell you this much though - your description above fails to mention one VERY important aspect that any buyer wants to know: "Where and how much rust?" It has clearly been painted, but what is under the paint? Was any and all rust repaired properly or just filled over? If you say that there is no rust, you better have some proof or pictures before paint or your price just went down.

IF, big if, there is no rust and never was any rust and you can prove it, then you are looking in upwards of $8,000+ to the right buyer. That is also assuming that it runs like a top and the interior isn't hacked all to hell. I can tell you this much after knowing what I know, I would have paid that for a better starting point on my build. I have over $20,000 invested in my truck and its insured for $26,000 but I am almost certain that the only way I get that money back is if it is totaled by the insurance company in which case, I would likely not be alive to receive the money!

Confirm the rust situation and post some more pictures of the engine, drivetrain and interior and I can give you a better idea of what you could sell it for. Also, Craigslist is about the worst avenue for selling these trucks - your potential buyer market is so incredibly small to begin with and then Craigslist dwindles that even further. If it is truly a decent truck then eBay is the way to go - I've seen absolute garbage sell on eBay for $3-4,000.

I'm also going to move this thread to the Feeler section of the Classifieds where it belongs. You should get more responses there as well.

Ok thanks. I have more pictures and just uploaded them to my 1980 toyota album. I cannot figure out how to connect my album to this posting.

here is a link to my pictures. I apologize for the dirty interior. I will try to photo the undercarriage. I am thinking about around $4500 What do you think?
