What to buy!!

I have a bunch of money saved up from working all summer and i'm going to be buying a toyota, it'll be my daily driver/light wheeler. I was thinking an 80s pickup or 4runner (depending on what i find) with aussie lockers and 4.88 or 5.29 gears. I could also get a later 4runner but I dont really know if i want ifs because my buddy has a 92 p/u and hes had some problems with his.

Welcome to Yotatech!!!

If you have some money left over let me know!! I need sliders, and dual cases!!! There's nothing wrong with IFS, it all depends on what you want to wheel.

yeah, i just found a nice 85 4runner with a tiny bit of rust, 3" lift, and 33" super swampers, and 240k. So i might look at that.

Watch out for the quality of the frames on the 1980's toyotas for they are famous for rusting out and what kind of engine is in your buddys truck. The V6 3.0 are known for problems.

Welcome to Yotatech. Take your time and buy exactly what you want. If it's an 85 4Runner that you're looking at, you really can't go wrong as long as the money is right and you check it out good. I've got 254k on my original motor and it runs like brand new. Just be sure to spend some time looking it over before you had over your hard earned cash.

I can't say a whole lot about rusting frames as I'm in California and in my few 80's Toyota 4X4's I've never seen it, but it's pretty dry here. But always a good ideal to look at the frame and check the insides of fenders and under the floors for rust while your there.

you are right agent orange. I live in virginia and there is a lot of moisture in the air plus the salt dumped on the road for the snow and ice. the rust is just something common in these parts.
