Should I Trade???

I have an 88 pickup, 3" torsion bar lift, 3" body lift, basically stock everything else except for bumpers lights tires etc. v6 5 speed. Runs mint, needs very little.

HE HAS: 91 pickup, same lift (3" body, 3" torsion bar lift) same size tires, basically the same truck, BUT it has a Chevy 350, with an auto tranny. It seems to run okay, except for the backfiring issue. THE STORY: he ran it out of gas, after he filled it back up he said it started running funny ( im thinking it picked up some crap from the bottom of the tank??) anyways, he ended up rebuilding the carb, he said the carb was pretty messed up, it seemed to run better, but not completely. SO he bought a BRAND NEW carb and he said the problem went away for a while, THEN it came back. He said it looked like his dist. cap was cracked, so he replaced the cap and rotor. he said it got worse, and started backfiring. It seems to idle good and seems okay when its cold, but when she warms up a little, and you rev it, it backfires out of the carb AND exhaust. It sounds to me like the timing is off. and if okay when cold, but when it warms up and the timing changes, its way off, and the original problems were in the fuel filter/carb, and when he put the distributor in he messed up the timing, or firing order or something.

Should i take a chance on it and trade? Also would the v8 be alot heavier than the 6? I have a GIANT brush guard, this truck doesnt, im thinking that the added weight from the v8 should be about as much as my brush guard weighs, and they would be about the same? maybe the 8 would be a little heavier? In such a case that it is alot heavier, how will that adversely affect the offroad performance of the truck?

I do like the newr look, but that doesnt really matter to me. I just want more power, my truck is okay but i want to be able to haul stuff (snowmobile trailer, jet skis, loads of wood, etc), or even go on the highway and not be a danger to everyone because i cant get past 60 on the hills.. and 5th gear is useless.

I would be nice if you have a picture of your toyota and the chevy you want to trade.

For my suggestion, If you like it then do it.

Does your v6 have and mods like headers and exhaust, what gears and tires are you running. I think that would make significant difference in towing and what not. The thing is you know your truck, you dont know whats up with this other one and its not a yota.

Yeah, loads of power is not always the best thing in a mini truck if you wheel hard, unless you like to fix broken stuff

other than sucking some more gas with the 350 it is a trade I would consider. Now that you got his truck fixed, is the guy still up for the trade?
