Opinions? Oppurtunity to buy a SR5 turbo.

Hey guys,

I've been getting into older 84-88 trucks lately and have been looking for a turbo extended cab as something new to play with (had plenty 22re's). I found a 86 turbo SR5 extended 4x4 for pretty cheap with 2 down sides.

1. Total piece - been painted a number of times, dents in the cab, 222k, interior is shot. Not much salvageable even for parts. does run and can feel the turbo boosting.

2. It's an auto.

The guy wants around 1.5k for it. I'm wondering if it would be worth putting work into or should I keep looking? How rare are turbo extended cabs? I know the second I see a turbo ext 5 speed on CL or something it will be gone in a second. Maybe make my own with a tranny swap?

auto's suck IMO. and 1500 is to much for a turbo 22re with 222,000 on it. a 7mge would be more fun than a turbo, but if turbo is what you want i think shopping around would do you some good.

Thanks for the reply,

Yea autos are pretty gay. The only reason I'm contemplating is I haven't seen many others and I really need to replace my std cab with an extended. I'll probably throw a minimal offer and if he doesn't take oh well.
