How much is my 87 worth???

I hate to do this but with winter coming my gf needs to get rid of her Saab and I need to get some cash to buy something proper for her...

Here's the specs

1987 4runner 22re 4*4 5spd

Good:
4.88s
Lockright 1610 locker
33*12.5*15 BFG Mud Terrain with about 4k miles on them
Black 15*8 Steelies
3in Body Lift
Brand new exhaust
Linex all across the bottom part of the truck
New Valve Gasket Cover
New Spark Plugs/ Wires Cap and Rotor, Air Filter, oil, coolant

Bad:
-When I had my valve gasket cover done I was told that the timing chain will need to be replaced in the near future.

-The rear window needs a new track.

-Thanks to a Jeep the windshield has a minor chip on it

I can't think of anything else at the moment. I'll clean it up this week and post more pics of it but In the meantime here's some pics I have from the CTJ09 event. I have taken it out 3 times since I've owned and it has been minor wheeling. I've also driven it to Missouri and it did great!

http://photobucket.com/CTJ09?albumview=slideshow

Any input on what you guys think this would be worth would be appreciated! I'm probably going to list on here and craigslist officially by the end of the week.

Jimmy

i believe it really depends on the buyer, some people dont know what a lockrite is why its regeared. so if the buyer understands these things they may offer more, if not they may offer less, i'd say start off at a higher price and keep posting it til its gone.

She needs to get rid of the Saab and you're selling the 'yota? Who's got their priorities wrong here?

That's basically what I was thinking. It's too bad this economy is eating up so many people's disposable income

I might either end up just selling it to the mechanic who replaced the valve gasket cover who offered to buy it. Or possibly trying to take it on with the help of a couple buddies and replacing the timing chain myself...

awesome. The milk from my cereal almost came out my nose when I read this.

If that was possible you would have had to take it to a mechanic to do the valve cover gasket.

I'd say, let the gf drive the '99 for the winter and replace your timing chain on the 87. You can do it yourself, tons of writeups all over the boards, get a couple of friends and knock it out in a weekend.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Since I'm not mechanically inclined taking on new things always seems a bit daunting. If I do change out the timing chain I think I will be using this write up as my bible since it doesn't require removing the head.

That would've been pretty funny to see!

Like everyone here I have to start somewhere. Even the mechanic I took my 4runner to let someone do his timing chain the first time he encountered problems with it. It's called a learning curve

I hate to keep this going since I think it's childish and annoying but you seem to get your jollies off on it so I suppose one more time won't hurt since it's all in fun right???

First off I never called you a liar! Must have been your insecurities playing mind games with you. Please don't try and act like your holding something over my head! I have nothing to hide about this truck and people are welcome to come look at it. Also this is NOT a for sale add just me simply asking the members here what they think my specific truck is worth considering it needs a timing chain replacement. I'm not trying to mislead potential buyers. I think it's in great shape considering it's age and I think it would be a great candidate for someone with more mechanical savvy. Last of all I don't think the mechanic who looked over my truck would've offered to buy it for more than double your estimate if he thought it was a lemon.

I'm done cluttering the board with this non sense thanks to those who gave me some input. I will update when I get things figured out.

I never said that you called me a liar. I said was that I can fix your section of what the bad is on the truck and then you can try to have someone prove that I am lying. Posting on here that it JUST needs a time chain replacement would be false advertising and you know that. You know that more work has to go along with replacing the timing chain. If you are asking what you think your truck is worth, you should give them all the facts about the timing chain instead of just that it needs to be replaced. You know that you have no plans of fixing the truck yourself. If it was just the timing chain you would have to post a feeler would you??????

I am just protecting the potiential buyers from douche bags like you. Hence the reason you are know as douche bag jimmy aka DBJ in the chicagoland and indiana region. Dont try to claim that you were offered more than double of what I said it was worth. Never said it was a lemon either. You arent the only one that propositioned a 4runner for sale to your mech.

So yes if you do post it for sale on yota, i am very interested to see what is listed with the bad. If you are going to post a feeler, you should be honest, even though that is not a word in your vocabulary, about the work that need to be done along with the timing chain replacement.

also keep in mind that you mech has spare 22re motors lying around his shop

It's funny you question my honesty as if you know me??? You don't know me and I would like to keep it that way. I avoid people like yourself who think they can call people names simply because they are new to world of wheeling.

If you don't believe my "claim" next time you see him ask him if he offered to buy it off me.

Um hello, I do know you, hence DBJ. Duh And you didnt recieve that because you are new to wheeling. There have been many of newbie in the group and yet you are the only one the have been deemed DBJ. Hmmmm, now why is that? Could part of the reason be that, posts like this where you intend to decieve potiental buyers. Yes I would say that would be part of it. You can come clean and be honest and list what is the full extend of the truck, i wouldnt have had to call you out on it.

And yes he did offer to buy it from you but not what for what you are claiming

Step ahead of you. But when you are going to try and intentionally mislead a potential buyer regarding your truck, im going to step in whether you like it or not.
