Cost on remanufactured '95 V6 3.0 4x4?

Looking for suggestions on what I can expect to pay for someone to locate & install a remanufactured engine for a 95 4runner V6 3.0 4x4. Looking at purchasing one with a thrown rod that I'm pretty sure will need to be replaced.

Also, whats the word on the auto transmissions used in this model? Dependable? Should I factor in possible issues with that as well? Guy says tranny is good, just planning for worst case scenario.

Prices will vary from place to place for your motor. You could get lucky and pick one up on CL's for cheap that runs fine, but If you're looking into reman. it's going to cost quite a bit to have someone else install it as well. You would be better off finding a different runner with maybe a blown head gasket and replace it yourself. It's not hard, just takes a little time.
