85 front axle for sale?

Alright, I have a line on a 85 4runner for sale and he wants $500 for the whole thing. It has no engine and an auto tranny. Everything else is pretty much left intact. My question is: how much can I get just a front axle for, and where!?!? Because this guy doesn't really want to "part it out". The local junkyard wants $450 for a solid axle!!! is that close to actual value or have I been living in a cave?

i paid 450 for mine. buy the whole truck get your axle and then sell the rest of the parts to make back you 500. grab that before you lose it.

even if it will cost me another $200 in gas/transport to get it here? I mean that's $700, but really the only thing I need is the axle and front driveshaft. Doesn't anyone still sell these axles for $250????

so i guess you can find 85 axles alot around where you live? cause i live in washington and almost drove to oregon to get an axle one day. once you get it you have it. so unless you can buy one where you are you need to ask yourself just how bad you want it. how far away is that one from you? barder with the guy to meet you half way. good luck man. where do you live anyways?

My advice is to get the entire runner and swap all of your good parts from the 87 into it (ie engine, tranny, t-case, rear axle, interior ect). Then sell the 87 for parts.

thats a good idea also. i think you need to get that truck. then worry about what your going to do with it.

def get that runner. I see axels all day long in so oregon for 300-350 but about 1 out of 10 you can snag for 250.00. If you get the whole thing you can make your money back or even trade for other stuff you want. Look at it like an investment!

I live in Dallas and the truck is 6 hrs away (Texas is a big state). That's how I figure it will cost $150 in gas and $50 to rent a car dolly. I really don't think I can get that much out of this truck. The thing is beat up, literally. It has no windshield, all the body is smashed up, some int. missing. I mean... I would prob. only want the axle and driveshaft, window motors, and a/c compressor (to sell). I don't think I can get $350 out of the parts remaining after the axle/driveshaft. How much would a G54/G52 auto tranny go for???
