Let's put together a Utah Chapter

I've noticed a few people from Utah on this board. With Moab and other great trails that are in Utah, it seems ironic that we don't have a dedicated Utah section. I'd even be up to the idea of setting up a separate website.

I'm new to the 4 wheeling world (the 4Runner is my first SUV), so I don't know too much about it, but would love to learn more and hit up some trails.

If interested, please post.

And tell your friends.

Well, nothing as of yet. I just want to get a head count of who would be interested.

Where are you located? I'm in Cottonwood.

p nut:

I totally agree with ya....joking aside...
We need a Utah Chapter here!! No ifs, ands, or buts about it!!
There is no reason why we shouldnt have one here with all the wheeling sites. Even without all the other wheeling sites... one word.... MOAB! Thats reason alone! So lets jump on this and get these wheels rolling!

thanks for the PM p nut. I know there are a few other guys HOJU and a guy from the Sonoran Steel Forum; Ripper both have nicely built rigs. The ut-ttora.com site is very 90's but there is a new Pres. Jason. that promises to remedy that. Lets do at least get a shout out for all the UTAH guys and ladies. On T4R.org I saw a built 97 Runner and the guy works at the Mark Miller Toyota dealership

Any of you have any experience with servers, hosting sites, or even are familiar with what it takes to set up an online message board? (work, cost, etc.) It'd be a LOT easier to just set up something here or on ttora, but it'd be cool to have a site like wasatchcruisers. I'd be willing to pay annual dues for something like that. I've seen enough 4Runners just around town (not driven by moms, but ready for wheelin') that would probably be interested in joining, I'm sure.

Just think, our own website...utah4runners.com

I shot Jason Goates an e-mail, he is the Pres of ut-ttora. Perhaps he will have some input. A wasatch cruiser esque site would be rad, it didn't just happen though, the members are very dedicated to enforcing rules, dues, outings, etc.

I just moved to UT from North Cacolacky!! The second thing I did was look for a 4x4 club to go wheeling with. I was astounded that there was no 4Runner club here. I also was taken back to find out that alot of the clubs here are "family or church" oriented. Well I have family and dont mind bringing them but some outtings are less to be desired. The other thing you will run into is the 2 seperate groups that will form; the web wheelers and the actual wheelers. Even the this group ou will have sub groups. Just keep in mind that stating a "club" like this will open up the wood works!! As for me I wouldn't mind joining if dues are reasonable (being military doesnt leave me with alot of money).

RIPPER - I moved out here from NC about 6.5 years ago. I'm guessing you were in Lejune? I'm from Raleigh. I miss NC, but it's nice out here. Lots of open fields to play in.

Hey, thanks for the email John.... (been a long time since i've seen ya!)

I have stepped in to help get the UT-TTORA club back up and going, along with Ellis Robinson of Advanced4wd Systems as VP, and Kurt Williams of Cruiser Outfitters. We are already making plans as i write this to get an all new forum and website. Truthfully, i hate going to the DelphiForums that we're on now... so that's gotta change.

Of course i don't want to take away from this group here, but i do want to extend an invitation to any and all Toyota guys looking for a Toyota club. Kurt and I had kicked around the idea of creating an all new club for Toyota guys, but decided we'd try the route of recharging the already established UT-TTORA club first. So far we've got great feedback and people willing to help get it back up.

If you are interested in making a new club, i can help you with that as well. I know of a 4x4 'club packet that' i got from the U4WDA(i'm supposed to condense it for them, as it's abit out of date) that illustrates play by play on how to start up a legit club.

if anyone wants more info on any of this, my email is jason.goates@gmail.com

-Jason

Ripper and p nut I also lived in the Raleigh, NC area for 2 years. I'm thinking we ought to at least get together and meet each other whether it's in a parking lot, dinner or at the trail. Ripper is right, there are groups and sub groups...I know I've been a member in all areas-web wheeler and true participant. Hopefully we'll get some more Yota's and DO something. Jason, I'm all up for helping but I think as evidenced from the difficulty ut-ttora has been having we all really need to do! (Jason, are you still at ClearBra? I was down at Freeway Transmissions today and looked for the Runner)

I just formed the OH TTORA chapter - it was pretty darn easy. The great thing is the maintenance and hosting for your forum is handled by the national organization. It took them less than a week to have our forum setup on the newer system (same as here). There are a lot of perks to being affiliated with a national club like TTORA. Want to go to Tellico, Moab, Farmington, Rubicon, ...? There's a club and people there to show you around!
