First step...

OK, we have some names picked out for a domain name.

1. Who will take the first step now and setup a server online for this to hold the domain in place?

2. Who will do the maintenance of online articles?
Articles can include coverage of various runs from around the globe, featured rig of the month, ect.

3. Will it be an online only webzine?
Putting out a magazine much like TLCA would be big bucks, plus there would have to be a lot of activity to justify it.

I think a webzine type setup would work.

4. Would it be updated monthly with fresh articles, or would new stuff just get added too it pretty much like how we update the Tech articles here?

5. It will take several to maintain it.
A person with good HTML skills to setup a killer site, and some with FTP access to the server to do updating of stuff.

6. And will it be affiliated with YotaTech since the idea was born here and the discussions take place here?

I'd really like to see this take off sometime as it's a great concept.
It will be a lot of work to get this off the ground, and perhaps the folk's with the skills to do this can speak up here and be willing to donate the time to pull this off to make it really a worthwhile thing.

I will be glad to help the best I can. Being a flyer in the USAF i am deployed alot. But when I am here I can give 4ROC the time it needs.

Hey Corey, think you can set up a chat for people who'd like to commit their time to creating this clan? I dont mean just people whod like to join, but those whod actually "work" to get it up. Im willing to commit time for this project. Please PM or email me if you have a personal response to this. It would probably be best if the chat was set up for a Saturday or a Sunday night (in my opinion). I think it should be a seperate organization from Yotatech but with certain ties. Of course 4ROC would contribute its creation to Yotatech and have links, but I dont know about 4ROC being a branch of Yotatec (if thats what you mean).

For ease of use, just post here what time you want to chat, and then use our chat room we have here.

A seperate chat room though could be setup for that very purpose in a few minutes.

Chat update

Prolax, AIM does not allow you to use a numerical number in the chat line code.
I tried to setup a chat room for it, and it says invalid when I input the code.

I can name it ROC, but that doesn't exactly sound like it should
4ROC just won't work in the code line.
I am not sure why AOL does this.

Corey - Have we decided on a domain name yet? i.e 4ROC.org or .net etc? It would only be $35 a year for the domain and I would be willing to get the domain if we have people who work on the site and have the space to host it. I am statione in Germany and the internet over here in my area atleast sucks and I would not trust it for hosting the site. Just thought I would throw this out there and hope that someothers can help get this thing off the ground. If we do agree on a domain I think I will get it for like 10 years so we won't have to worry about it again for quite some time. well keep me posted if a decision is made

I'm willing to assist as I can.

I run a small web hosting biz on the side, so I could
donate space and management etc for it if needed.

If it turns out to need more than I got, we can migrate
later.

Or I'm pretty good with the various coding parts of the world,
so can help there.

Domains can be had a LOT cheaper than $35 (I'm paying $9.95
for all of the ones I host)

Verisign aka. network solutions has the devil within them...
(horrible highlander misquote...)

Can't do much about bludgeoning current holder of 4roc.com,
but would be happy to acquire whatever variants *are* available.

Let me know if any of this would be useful to the cause.
