Tired of ignorance!!

Ok people I'm getting a little sick and tired of all of these trails getting shut down because of other peoples negligence. Ever hear of the term "clean up after yourself"? If you brought it with you don't leave alongside the trail or at your camping spot. TAKE IT WITH YOU!! I live in central Pa and apparently the idiots here don't get it. They drive on private property, drive like idiots and make campsites wherever they feel necessary. I know campsites aren't that big of a problem but when you don't clean it up and leave your garbage behind it becomes one. These people are the ones getting our beautiful trails shut down in central Pa. Then they turn around and complain about it, go figure. So my deal is I wheel these trails ALOT and have begun a clean up of the area. So far its usually just me and my son but, in hopes that maybe somebody who's reading this enjoys our trails as much as I do and wouldn't mind a little work, come join me. We do alot of trail riding and if we come across garbage we clean it up. Lots of fun and doing lots of good for the environment. Plus helping keep our trails open for everyone to enjoy for years to come.

Good post. amen.
cam6978 post made me think & I am not sure how doable it is, but perhaps someway to have "yotatech trail clean ups" in the various regions.. for instence in the spring my kayaking buds all get together and pick river sections to clean in our area.

Hate to break it to you - but it wouldn't matter to the people who are actively closing our trails if we kept every single one of them spotless. I'm all for keeping it clean, but your anger is better spent fighting the real enemy.

Yes there are people always wanting to close trails. But what do we do to help stop this? Go out and continue to do nothing and leave the garbage so they have a reason to close them?

I didn't say to do nothing - I simply said you're better off focusing in the enemy, rather than thinking that brow-beating fellow wheelers into picking up their trash will net you any real land-closure results.

I live out of town, so to speak and have to deal with idiots that think my land is there land (not). The people that gently pass by my place, I pay little to no attention to (but do). the idiots that pass by (high speed, dust, noise, garbage, gates, etc.) I must always go and check on to see what they've done or not done, when they leave and sometimes will approach them while they are within because I recognize the type machine there in or on, from there previous troubles (which they always deny). So my perspective often comes to "locking 'em out for awhile" so they move on elsewhere, this seems to happen in cycles. I can go for a year with no problems, then one problem after another.

I'm not the enemy but poke me with a stick and I will become one. My reply is rational because I own land and lease some, which makes me responsible for it. So when clowns come in and abuse the privilege (never mind the no trespassing/no hunting signs) I tend to get a little upset. I had some fool and his buddy (with matching white polo / golfing shirts and paid for tans), not long ago, in a high dollar off road / dune type machine come onto my place and did some doughnuts behind my garage. When I caught up to them and blocked there path. I stepped out with a 30-30 and asked them were they lived. They replied, then I replied the next time I was in their neighborhood I'd stop by and return there doughnuts in there front yard and see how they felt about it. Then escorted there high dollar asses back to there high dollar toy hauler.
I've dealt with hunters on there new 4 wheelers with new scoped rifles on there handle bars, brand new camouflage britches still with the factory folds in them. They were absolutely clueless to the laws and regulations regarding there actions but had deer permits, so they thought they could do as they please (not). They got the point quick enough to apologize and left rather quickly.
Pack it in, pack it out and respect the privilege to enter another's property or loose the privileges (this applies to federal/state land as well). Simple as that! I could go on but if that's not enough, you may be one of them.

None of my fellow wheelers they know better. And i don't think anyone on here. Im sorry if I've offended anyone on here. But honestly from watching people out on trails and seeing them do this stuff it just gets a little aggravating. I guess its all in how you were raised. Don't trespass and don't destroy things that aren't yours. I wheel on private property and state game lands. If there's a trail stick to it don't make new ones and clean up your mess. All im saying is i wish more people would be more appreciating to what we all have and enjoy.

Good post
Unfortunatly the people that do the most damage or cause the most problems out there, dont care about the land, the trails, or the other people using them. All we can do is do our part to keep the trails open and try to educate the newbies to respect what we have out there. As a group we can change how some individuals act on the trails .
Respect is earned
