Gotta wonder, seems awful dumb to be wheeling without the doors on:

1) Body parts hanging out of the cab to be crushed when it rolls over
2) Added structural support? I wonder if the door would have provided any additional support to the cab?

Glad to see no one got serioiusly injured, and provides a good lesson to the rest of us, both as spectators/spotters and drivers!

I would think you at least need tube doors and a roll cage if your going to attempt those kind of trails. No way in the world, should you go w/out doors if you don't have a roll cage. The doors are part of what gives the passenger cab it's strength, without them you have a much weaker cab, as you can see.

Just think...at least he can still get top dollar for the doors.

If you read the posts, you need to spin your tires to get them warm and sticky to make that climb...I bet a crawler would have solved that problem.

david,

i'd have to agree and i've said it many times: don't ride in open door vehicles.

my friend was riding in a jeep and the driver swung the jeep to the left to avoid a car. in the process, my friend's right leg swung out and was nearly taken off when it hit a parked car. he had his leg amputated as a result.

The original intention of his post was to alert people to safety issues, he wasn't posting to say, hey look at me, I am an a**hole.

http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum...6&page=1&pp=30

Interesting side-note, the camera was set to 3 frames per second, that is how fast that roll-over happened, he was up and over in about 2 seconds, noone reacts that fast, that isn't enough time to get the steering wheel turned even if you do realize what is happening.

well, i don't know the details, and i wasn't there, but what i do know is that although it can happen fast, it will happen even faster when you're gassing the hell outta it like that.

at least he can use his misfortune to try to educate others about safety. sucks about his ankle being screwed up, but he's lucky that he got away w/ his life to be honest...

this is a pic of his ankle under the slider when he rolled. that could have just as easily been his head or someone else's...

Definitely. I made sure it was ok before I posted it here. I didn't want it to come across the wrong way, it was posted strictly for reasons to remind everyone to be safe and think about where you are when spectating.

Wow...That could have been very, very bad. And it is very dumb to leave the doors off like that...he could have easily been thrown from the cab. He's very lucky (as are some of the spectators).

I was bored - so I made an animated gif of the sequence of pics... Wonder where he was going to go when he got to the tree at the top?

Haha, well the motion blur on the tires is a dead giveaway at how much throttle he was using-AKA TOO MUCH. I'm actually surprised he didn't roll earlier in the pics. Maybe this should be turned into a no drinking and driving ad??

On another funny note, look at the big kid that was spotting earlier in pics 23 and 24. Talk about diving for cover! Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when George smelled smoke and ran people over heading for the door.

DARWIN!!!!

seriously WAYYYY too much wheelspin. Thats what happens when you have too much wheel spin, most of your control goes out the window, or door, however you want to look at it.

If you have to give it that much gas, it just aint worth it if thats going to be the result.
