What does FJ stand for?

A Google search found this: The "F" stands for the Type F Gasoline engine the switched to in 1954 from the original Type B. The "J" actually stands for jeep, which was a generic term for that style vehicle before it became a name brand. The first of its kind was the Toyota Jeep BJ, using the the Type B motor. The two digits that began to follow the FJ are specifying the series. It went:

FJ, FJ-40, FJ-55 and 56, FJ-60, FJ-70(never made it to the states), FJ-80, FJ-100, and the FJ-200.

but, I've also heard (probably not true) that it stands for "Foreign Jeep"

interesting. on a related note, I heard SR5 originally stood for Sport Rally 5speed.

Almost.

S- sport
R- R series motor (20R, 22R etc)
5- 5spd transmission.

F- gas motor (B- diesel)
J- jeep as far as I know

with the SR5.. if its 'Sport R (motor) and 5 (as in 5 speed), why are they calling 3 and 4 speed automatics 'SR5' ?

But this is just stuff I've read on the internet, and we all know how accurate that can be.
The R for engine does make a lot sense. I hadn't heard that one mentioned before. Could be. Did Land Cruisers come with SR5, or just pickups at first? 'Cause that would answer that, since as far as I know there are no R engines in LC's.

2.5 - What does SR5 mean anyways ? (Toyota Historical Background)

In the latter part of the 1970's, the SR5 connotation denoted an option code
for the HiLux series of trucks, similar to what the Z71 option code currently
means for an upgraded Chevy or GMC pickup or Tahoe/Yukon. Originally released
around 1975, the 'S' denoted Sport, 'R' denoted the RN motor code, and '5'
denoted the 5-speed transmission. It quickly caught on and the SR5 connotation
passed onto the Corolla and then onto other Toyota car models. Even though the
HiLux name was dropped in 1979 for the United States market, it is still used
today elsewhere in the world as the name for a Tacoma-like pickup and/or the
4Runner, depending on the market.

Note: Some other historical information shows that the Corolla had the "SR5"
designation first, then it was passed on to the HiLux series. The majority of
historical information seems to promote the HiLux first, then the Corolla,
rather than vice-versa.

Today, the SR5 generally denotes a specifc Toyota trim level, with a more
sporty look and wide flexibility for options.

And did I not mention in my post that I read it somewhere on the internet? Is everything I've posted in forums that I read somewhere and didn't learn completely on my own "stolen"? Do I need a freaking bibliography at the end of all my posts to list my sources so it's not plagiarism?

Sorry if I misunderstood the post, but give me a break. I didn't present it as my own research into Toyota history. I presented it as "stuff I read on the internet".

I agree with a previous post on her stating that Sr5 was just a luxery thing. At some point i think it had a solid meaning, but i used to see Sr5 on older toyota cars like corollas, and i dont think they went by all the same standards as the trucks and suv's.

About 6" Total lift. Rolling on 16x10 Mickey Thompson Classic locks, wrapped up in 305/70 R16 BFG Mud Terrains. Rebuilding motor, blown head-gasket.
