Well, after spending $25K to get the real thing first.
After you sign the papers and get your VIN, call 1-800-GOTOYOTA to register. They're estimating delivery time of 10-12 weeks, random colors are assigned so we might have to do some switching around here.
There will be an expiration date on this promo depending on the FJ sales rate. They didn't know how many scale models were produced, so no cutoff date estimate.
You can also register online, but to be safe, do both. More promo and model details here:

An FJ-specific VIN. You can't just grab one off the dealer's lot, either. They're matched to dealer sales reporting records before shipping.

I'm just wondering because when you go to the actual Toyota Owner sign up page it auto fills in a FJ promo code so I was wondering if somebody without an FJ Cruiser could sign up and still get the FJ Cruiser model because of the FJ Cruiser promo code. I tried signing up but I am already a member.

And if you don't want it or need cash for mods, there's always eBay.

i called today , to make sure i was getting my die cast model. for some reason , since i was already signed up for toyota owners online , for my 4runner and then as soon as i got home i put in my info for the fj , when i got my flyer to put in for the die cast model , the system didnt take the info , so i called jsut to make sure. i was told that i wasnt in the system for the model and he took my info right then and there and got it taken care of , and also entered my info for a darryl waltrip tundra , i guess its some other drawing or contest they have going on too.
so if your already a toyota owners online user or registered before you got your flyer it might behoove( i know big word from me LOL) to call and make sure your in the system for your model ( especially , since the unnumbered ones are going for over $300)

Received my die cast FJ in the mail yesterday! Awesome!
Even though it stated the color would be random, I wrote "Blue, if possible, please" on the card they sent me, and, sure enough, they sent me a Voodoo Blue one!
This thing is amazing. The detail is incredible. When you open the reverse back doors, they even have actual seatbelts hanging on them!!
Stopped by a die cast store on the way home today to pick up a display case for it. Can't wait to put it on my desk at work on Monday morning!

Yeah, the e-bay thing worked for me, took about 4 weeks. I ended up giving mine to my nephew, he is having more fun with it then I would have. Kind of cool, I'm not really into diecast models or FJ cruisers, but, it was nice, got yellow here. Just make sure that there isnt that much time left on the auction if the FJ is brand new, that way by the time the order is processed, the VIN will be oficially sold.
