well i'd have to say to toyota that they FINALLY got something right to offer loyal toyota customers in terms of providing a bone-stock capable off roading vehicle. though the base pricing is what i expected, i am somewhat disappointed (but not surprised) that they pulled a bmw-esque options package scheme (for lack of a better word) to make the FJ just a few thousand short of a 4runner. i think a well equipped FJ should not cost more than $28k out the door, but that's just one person's opinion

Dr, no solid axle, it is IFS and does quite well.
In fact it does better than the original FJ40 that it pays homage to since it has traction devices (you have to order them) from the factory such as a rear electric locker and the A Trac system. Bob, as I found out the rig will cost me more than I thought to get a few things I really wanted you can only get them with an upgrade package. 'Tis a crock of crap, but that is how Toyota is doing it. For instance to get the clinomter package for the dash I had to order a package that has other stuff I did not want. Then to get that package I must also have the Conv. package which has a few more things I do not want, but has some stuff I do need such as a rear wiper and power mirrors.

Can you get the sliders from Toyota too? Love the pics but would really like to see some vids of that trail ride.

Oh, you can see vids. There are links in this very section to the vids. You can also see vids in Flash in the Canadian thread I put up last week too.
