Buying an FJ soon...will toyota budge on pricing with these?

Hey guys,

It has come time for me to replace my 4runner with another 4wd vehicle. I am really liking the FJ cruiser.

I have all the money lined up so I will not need to finance the vehicle through toyota. My question is how flexible has Toyota been with you on the pricing of your FJ? Or, are they not budging one bit claiming this are a exclusive ride lol. Id like this ride as close to MSRP as possible. I am not too particular about options just basically need th 4wd. Just getting a feel for what folks have been through....knowledge is power...

Thanks in advance

well, what i know, is toyota isnt really "finance leaniant"...

my buddy bought a tundra, and he tried to see WHATEVER he could do to lower his price. credit helps!

also, i wanted a scion.... they have fixed prices on everything. the do not budge!!!!!!

pretty much it comes down to this...
ive seen this done its a really good idea

call up one dealership, say how much for a 4wd cruiser in white (lets just say) with power everything... etc etc..
get their price

call up another dealership
find their price
find out which one is cheaper

then call the more expensive one and say (okay this dealership is offering me xxxxxxx money for the cruiser) can you beat this price and if you will, i will buy from you (make sure you talk to a guy who can make these kind of decisions)
most likely he will say yes and will want to work with you

call up the other dealership and do the same

my uncle did this, and saved 7,000 on his subaru.

Yeah that is a really good idea. I work at a dealership, and at least here, FJ's are not hot sellers. This works out in your favor. My parents bought a 4Runner here (also not hot sellers anymore) and thanks to good negotiating and good credit they were able to get $4500 knocked off the price and 0% apr. This is almost unheard of from Toyota.

When I talking to the consultant on the phone, I said to her "I bet people are buying FJs all the time". Her response was "well not really" LOL

I am hoping to combine the not so hot seller w the 2008s coming in. Hoping to to get some of the markup taken off. You figure the MSRP price is a great deal for what you are getting. 30K I cant call it..

there is a new car toyota carmax dealership here in Md. They post their lowest selling price for all their vehicles online. I take that price and shop it around. Fitzgerald toyota was the only one willing to beat it, and it was only like $100 difference.

let me know what happens. i wanna see how much you can get down. im surprised that fj's are not hot sellers...

i am gonna beat my runner down, then ill buy a cheap 4wd 02 in a few years, offroad it only! (theres a place in southern cali where you get cars for dirt cheap, and its called downey (like the shocks hahahahah) i think they steal them and get fake tags and such for all their cars, but hey its legal if you buy it)

and then get a street car to drive for the mileage, and acceleration. ie honda/scion/(what cool toyota cars besides cheap yaris and carolla does toyota have... hmmmm)

I defintely will let you know.

I got a low interest loan from my credit union for 25K. I also have my 4runner for trade in and some cash. I wanna see how much I can knock it down to by not needing to use the Toyota financing.

HA I hear you on this one. I have a 91 mr2 done up for the sunny daily driver with great gas mileage. Car rides soo nice I have no clue when I will get rid of it. Then I have the 1jz supra for fully road/track racing. I wanted to get the FJ to replace my 160K runner that way I always have a ride I know will always work....I figure my truck should b bulletproof...

my runner almost has 200k on it and it runs beautiful, except it needs some a/c, shocks, brakes, and some goodies from me lol.

bad thing- my runner is my daily driver but its only around town and the 'rare' occasional beach/camping trip
yesterday it rained soo hard here and in california it doesnt rain hard at all!
i went through a 2 1/2 foot puddle and sprayed up water everywhere! it was soo great! i wish i took a pic.

is a loan from the bank cheaper than getting financing if you have good credit?

if so, ill have to check into that one.

If you have excellent credit score and have financed through Toyota before you their interest rates are far lower than any credit union or bank.
Biggest question is have you researched and driven a Cruiser, I loved them when I first saw them and insisted that I would buy the first one around, I never even drove it, as soon as I sat in it I hated it, I wouldn't purchase one for personal use if they were half price!

Toyota was only willing to give me 7 percent and my credit union gave me 5...Maybe I could have haggled with Toyota but in the end it wasnt worth it.

It all comes down to like you said....researching. Infiltrator, if you get a better interest rate outside of Toyota...you should go for it. It will give you more leverage with the pricing. At least in my opinion. Hell...I even keep ya updated with what I buy.

Fuzion...thanks for the heads up. Sounds like some dealers will do some haggling. That is good to know.

I love the FJ....have looked at them 20 times and driven twice. Its all love here... I may not have the requirements you look for in a truck as you do fastkey....but this thing rings badsss to me!

It is the best rig I have ever owned in my life.
I would not hesitate to buy one again.

Nothing else brand new from Toyota does it for me like the FJ does.
Excellent off road, 21 MPG city/highway, although now I am getting 18 to 19 MPG city/highway due to the mods I have done.

Lets see some pictures when you get it.

You know I will def be posting pics when I get it.

My question is now should I get manual or auto? Manual has to be the more desirable one in the future...

Color schemes i like are black>Silver>Burgoundy(whatever)>Blue-No yella for me lol

I am crazy excited for this upcoming week!

It all depends.
I drove manuals all my life up until my last rig, the '91 4Runner.

I prefer automatics off road, I have had both.
Less trouble on steep accents.

Also if you have to deal with rush hour traffic or heavy congestion, your left foot will thank you if you get an auto.

You should be able to deal on an '07 since the '08s are out.
Only difference is the '08s have a side sun visor, a few new colors, and an optional 5 spoke wheel.
I think the 6 spoke (I like 'em better) is still being offered.

Yea I definitely have to agree with you on the left foot being thankful...lol

What color did you get? Did you see of those paint chippings people have been complaining about or the windshield cracking?
