The revised 1GR numbers in the FJ application are interesting. So, for the ability to run regular gas with dual VVT-i we gain +20hp but lose -7lbs torque. For our FJ app, I'd just as soon run premium for the torque and add a TRD CAI for +22hp.

I guess 4R gets extra power from packaging. It must allow more room underhood and down the frame for improved intake ducting (current stock plenum is horseshoe shaped and looks restrictive) and exhaust routing.

Cool stuff, Corey. Now someone at TMS is in trouble as dealers scramble to sell leftover 4th Gen 'Runners before 5th Gens arrive.

Yes Scuba, looks like the 4Runner beat the chopping block this time.

Yeah, I wonder who leaked out that "confidential" report.
Was not me this time, I learned my lesson when the 4th gen came out

Bob, I ran the regular for quite awhile, but have been running super premium for a long time again too.

With my thirty miles round trip for work each day taking the slow (35 to 40 MPH) route to work, and then coming home on the freeway, I am getting a consistent 17 MPG with the way my rig sits with the tent on top and 285x70x17 mud tires.
The tent took it down a tad.
Should get better again when I get my new BajaRack later.
Still in the works, but it is designed specifically for my type of tent, and the tent will sit much lower to the roof.

Corey, I get maybe 16 MPG on a good day, but my driving is all hilly terrain and short-hauls.

Looking forward to your rack/tent writeup!

The orange s/c'ed cruiser is pretty sweet. White grille frame, very classy. Anyone notice it has a mini pickup bed sorta H3 truck style? Also, a cloth sunroof, and if you look close, what's with the weird clips above the windshield? How cool would it be with a safari style fold down windshield!! Very cool looking, I still don't like the mini suicide doors though.

The 1GR-FE is used in both but was tuned for premium in the FJ vs. regular in the 4R. So the 4R gains from dual VVT-i on regular but the FJ is a net loss when detuned for regular.

Last week while driving into work at 3 am the green stood out and caught my eye, even in near total darkness on the lot at my local dealer.

Some are already being modded too, saw this on the big FJ forum.
Looks like they put the washer bottle lower though...
