best thing to do would probally be get it hooked up to a computer, sounds like it could possibly be the water pump goin bad, as my brothers car just had a similiar sounding problem

Thanks - yes I figured it out since I posted original question. I did all the work to remove the water pump BUT (stupid me) didn't replace it, AND it is still leaking, oh well. Great experience. Well I'm off to buy a new one and hopefully do it right this time. Thank you again. Pete

Well...since you have all yer parts out...might as well replace the timing belt and idler rollers...

did you use RTV sealant with the gasket on the waterpump?

Yes but the housing didn't have a groove like the original and I also used the included felt type gasket. It did the job. Don't have a newer vehicle then my 94 t100 and didn't know that the water pump and thermastat were together so I did some extra work but it is worth it.
