can i ask how wide you went on the front axle? I am trying to build a poor mans version of that axle by widening a FJ60 front axle i have. wont be fj80 outers but i have longfields for the fj60/minitruck birfs.
mine will be going under a 96 ex cab t100 someday.

WMS to WMS i went with 67". I believe stock is 65" in the front and 66.75" in the back according to erik's info on 4X4wire. Fj60 front axle still better than a gm dana44 in my opinion!! Good luck with the build buddy.

that is encouraging. I think the shafts i have will put me right there also with IFS hubs. I plan on using the FF FJ80 rear as you did, just instead of wheel spacers i bought a custom short side axle shaft to widen the axle to 67" and re center the rear diff some.
Have you got the 2JZ running yet? i watched some of your videos on youtube, that thing really screamed with the supercharger, it will be interesting to see how the 2JZ rips!

Yeah thats awesome man! Im really just thinking about getting a $900 bare diamond housing plus the custom length shafts ($350) for the rear so i can ditch the wheel spacers. But for now the wheel spacers will do lol
I wish the 2jz swap was done ha! Im starting to realize how expensive it is to build a race truck. Im hoping this spring it will be finished!

Before i even started this 2jz swap, i have done a lot of research on 2jz's in general and what i need to do for my best interest. The problem i kept running into is how would i mate a r150f tranny to the 2jz engine. There was a lot of debate on this topic in different forums saying you need to cut and splice 2 bellhousings together or others saying even with the 5vz r150f, the input shaft is still short for the 1jz r154 bellhousing but no one had any real hard evidents that it wouldnt work.
I already knew that the 3vz r150f input shaft is short and you need to cut and splice 2 bellhousings together to make that tranny work but i wanted to avoid doing that at all cost if i could help it. Knowing the 5vz r150f input shaft is longer it was time to do research!
After a solid week of searching the forums and not coming up with an answer i was looking for i decided to call around for some info. I called marlincrawler and told one of the guys what i was doing and he honestly didnt have an answer for wether if there was a way to pair the r150f to the 2jz. It was the same story with a couple of other places i called too. I then took a different approach and called around for some input shaft measurements on a r154 just to see if it was at all the same length as my 5vz r150f. Sure enough i called driftmotion and spoke with a fella named aaron and he gave me some measurements of an input shaft from a r154 he had sitting on his bench. Turns out the r154 and 5vz r150f have the same input shaft lengths!!! So yes, a 1jz r154 bellhousing paired with a 5vz r150f tranny will work with no worries of having a short input shaft with bolting to the 2jz. That means no cutting and splicing bellhousing together just to run a r150f yayyyyyyyy!!!
ordered me up a bellhousing from driftmotion and here are some pictures of it installed on the 5vz r150f
The only thing I wonder about is how you get the steering worked out on the Dana 44. I have a stock t100 and I have a Dana 44 just don't know about steering? Any thoughts?
I haven’t posted up in a while so i’ll update this for anyone interested or even still uses this forum. It’s been over a year and 25k miles of daily driving with the 2J swap and everything is holding up great! Had to fix a few things during the journey so far as all the extra power is finding my weak spots Had to fix the engine mounts on the frame a few times and brace the frame in the back (started to rot from the inside out). Other than that, everhthing seems to be pretty solid. Axles been holding up great to the power (470hp @20lbs of boost, currently running 25lbs so i guesstimate around 500hp now?) R150f took a ˟˟˟˟ in the beginning, had over 300k miles on it so i replaced it with another R150f.
During the summer months of 80°F-100°f the truck did great and stayed cool for the most part. Started to get hot on me a couple times but that was due to one of my radiator fans dying.
Hoping to travel around the country and camp with it this coming year 2020! Still working out all the minor stuff

Right on, right on! I probably should've went with won tons under mine but me being a little bit of a purist and wanting to be different i chose to stay with Toyota
TDI would be an interesting swap. Not a big fan of VW but i never hear any bad things about the TDI's.
I plan to drive the truck all the way down to Florida early April
Love this T100 haha. I have a 1993 T100 i 3.4 swapped and supercharged. Trying to find a dana 44 solid axle so i can sas it!
Thanks brutha! The 3.4 swap makes a big difference compared previously having the 3.0 and the supercharger makes all the world difference. Especially going up big hill inclines.
Dana 44 is a really good option for starting a SAS with the T, everything just makes sense to use that axle. If i had to do it all over again I would go with a fj80 front axle! It has bigger birfields than the mini trucks, quad piston calipers, high pinion 3rd member, trunion bearing(no ball joints to wear out), and not to mention you can have a higher matching gear ratio than a 4.88
The only downfall of the fj80 axle is cost, oh and you need to do 1.5" wheel spacers for correct width. At the end of the day it will cost a bit more than doing a Dana 44 but will be far superior and last a lot longer
